SQ are adding a fourth daily 777-200 service between SIN & PER. Details of this and other changes (during winter SIN-HKG-SFO will move to A380 and SIN-FRA-JFK back to 77W) can be found here.

Interesting in the context of rumours of QFi abandoning PER.

Time for a switch to *A, I think.

I've been a loyal QF flyer, but if you are in PER, they don't really return the loyalty (even discounting the rumour).

SIN-HKG-SFO to A380 is awesome news.

Do any of the changes to A380 operations mean that there are opportunities for Suite redemptions at F Savers rates? thinking, thinking.

Looks like QFi has just given SQ a free kick in a market.

I would guess connections for both US and Europe would be very good out of SIN

Europe connections are great!

USA im not that clued up on, i know to LA is via Narita or SFO is via HK. Or direct LA on a all business configured A340. Not sure how frequent they are but.

I think there is also one out of ICN but not sure if that goes to SFO? or has that been canned?

Still operates. Other ones not mentioned include to Houston via Moscow, JFK via FRA and the non-stop to EWR. During the GFC SQ canned services to YVR via ICN and LAX via TPE.

Hey all

looking at flying out of PER on SQ, is the 777-200 refurbed, with the new entertainment system etc? If not does it at least have on demand entertainment. Can't sleep on planes so want to know if I will have something on demand to watch.

Thanks

My 14 year old niece and her mother were part of the fluke where I had booked them in First and the plane was changed to an A380 from the 777.
Last night I received a text when they landed in Singapore to say my niece did not wish to travel in Economy ever again.
That is a bit of a monster problem going forward so maybe it should be avoided.
I looked up the online cash price to go SIN-LHR return and you can get it for 13,000 Sin Dollars and Mrscove thinks that is a bargain.
Now her sister and her niece are in full agreement with Mrscove so I will let them keep working their Oz Lotto wealth plan.

If by the new entertainment system you mean ipod connectivity etc, the 777-200's ex PER don't have this but they do have on demand. The 330's do but I think when the 4 x daily service kicks in next month PER will be serviced by all 777-200's.

Previously, the 772's in and out of PER were using the Loop based IFE.

So if it is AVOD, then it is an improvement.

The refurbed 777-200's still have the same AVOD as before. They only recovered the seats & put in new carpet in Y, in J they fitted the new regional J product which added a bigger screen hooked up to the old AVOD system.

The IFE has had to change then, as it was loop based, which is different to AVOD.

Of course it could just be a software upgrade to change it to on demand.

I think there's still a few rogue planes out there that don't have AVOD, I think most of these are ones without a refurbished business class (ie 2-3-2), and used on BKK/MNL/CGK/KUL sectors. But if the scheduled aircraft goes out of action there's always a (very small) chance of getting them on Australian routes.

I can't remember getting loop based IFE in SQ ex PER. Y has always had the annoying AVOD box taking up foot space under aisle seats. J has been improved with the new regional seats and 2-2-2 layout, but still not lie flat.

I can going as far back as 08.
