Was passing through the VA lounge and noticed spirits were available.

Seems like the rumours were true:

Sorry about the bad photo quality, was in a rush.

What VA could do is have a different liquor brand sponsor a promo each month and have a special coughtail available during that time featuring the sponsored spirit.

More glasses

clean glasses? right near peoples feet? and the perfect place to 'perch a foot on' (likened to bar foot rest railings along bars in pubs :D) but VA use as storage for 'clean' glasses... YUK.

just my observation/opinion :)

It's nice that they are finally introducing spirits, but the bar area in the SYD lounge is already terribly congested in peak times already. The area is poorly designed with the tables right in front of the drinks area and it being the main thorough-fare to the southern seating area. Within that small area is the self-pour wine, self-serve softdrinks, beer-request area with snacks, and beer-taps and cold/hot water fountain. Within 1.5 metres, you have people sitting at the low benches, and then it's the main walkway through as well. They really need to change the layout in that area: how about moving one of the drinks-serving areas over to the far right where the additional coffee machine area is? I've never seen that second coffee machine in action, even during morning peak times.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just to clarify for anyone that's interested.

It's currently being trialled at the Sydney lounge, the sign says something along the lines of "We are currently trialling spirits. Please let our staff know what you think."

My assumption though is that it will be popular among travellers.

Also for those who can't see what was available, it was: Smirnoff Vodka, Bundaberg Rum, Gordon's London Dry Gin, Johnny Walker Red Label and Bacardi Rum.

Well it is a good thing they are trailing spirits... so at the very least lots of feedback about keeping them would be a good thing.

It's a shame that the spirits being trialled are only really suitable for drain cleaning :(

Can I suggest that everyone who doesn't like the selection just takes one for the team and order something ???
We have to start somewhere :D :p

What more do you need but Bundy?

Those insert have been there forever, and at the food area are used to store plates.

I've seen the second machine in use after getting of a 8:20 am arrival, but rarely.

A trial? In SYD only?

Ridiculous. Just roll it out to match the QP's, and be done with it.

It is a positive step and good to see! I never really understood the 'logic' behind not having spirits in the first place.
