Spice bar at Melbourne Qantas Domestic Business Lounge

Spice Bar is a cold and empty place today passing through during lunch hour ☹️

Are the reports of the reopening somewhat premature?

Some fairly lacklustre buffet options otherwise.

It was open and serving food weeks ago when I passed through MEL.

So, since it WAS open back in Feb-April perhaps it has closed again... seems unusual though given everything is ramping up more than down. Maybe it's the dreaded hospitality staff shortage issue somehow? Otherwise it doesn't make a lot of sense for it not to be open imo.

No spice bar tonight. The only catering on offer was lentil soup & bread rolls, rice & chicken curry, the standard sandwich/salad bar and rocky road slices.

Spice bar laksa on 2nd April. It opened at midday.

It was closed down by 17 April when I was there 🙁

The food on offer was awful. I left and went into the terminal and bought a ciabatta for lunch. It occurred to me later I should have gone into the ordinary QP first to see if the offerings were any better there.

The J lounge staff told me they were aware the food was awful and that pax need to complain about it because 'management won't listen to staff'.

Still closed when I went through on Saturday 28th initially a chilli con carne, then noodles in the warmers, sorry no pics, I went for salad items and dip

It is ridiculous...advertise and promote something but don't deliver...oh this is Qantas...what else would you expect!

~6pm Sunday 29th May had someone working in the Spice Bar, but it was not serving food during my 90min visit.

The buffet options were actually quite ok though.

ET reports the Spice Bar is reopening this week with a fresh and fragrant new menu including the dreaded chicken miso soup with pickled ginger and sesame
Snap! I was about to re-post the article. Comments there suggest it was open last night.

pax need to complain about it because 'management won't listen to staff'.

The exact phrase used by a QF employee who helps check in people on the kiosks ... the person I spoke to feels that QF listens more to customers via feedbacks, emails, social media posts etc than listening to senior/long-time employees on what is best for the customer ... this person also said that most of the issues customers face/raise/experience is also brought to the attention of QF management via staff members too ... but what ever a staff member says isn't given much importance/thought/followed-up .

Off-topic, but I felt it was relevant ... happy for the mods to move this post as seen fit.
