The system will enable customers to plan oneworld Explorer round-the-world trips, which can be of up to 16 segments. As a customer builds his or her itinerary, it will verify flight availability, displaying only flights that have seats available for the date and routes selected. It will automatically validate that the itinerary meets all fare rules and conditions - and then provide an instant price. Once a customer has finalised his or her itinerary, he or she will be able to pay on-line using a credit card and print out all the details before his or her e-tickets are delivered by email.

Hopefully it'd allow choice in which airline to plate the ticket on. :)

Nice, but with every technology increase that is good there tends to be a corresponding technology increase that is bad.

Still, removes one obstacle I have with planning these things (dealing with TA's or overseas call centers which don't know the rules).

Also, Qantas has been doing a lot of the work for this tool, so I presume it will 'correctly' implement surcharges regardless of who plates the ticket.

I wonder if they will extend this to circle pacific fares - especially ones booked from Manilla or Denpasar?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Presumably for people with credit cards, which during online verification, are noted as - issued to billing addresses OR by financial institutions (with card processing) based in the Philippines, Indonesia or Canada?

I wonder if this process will be totally automated or if there will be a delay while a human examines it and nit-picks over the rules.

It's a really good feature though (if it works as advertised) so I hope the other alliances follow quickly.
