Hi All,

First ever trip in CX. I have QF Gold so i get access to QFI J lounge in syd and CX Pier J loune in HKG.

Is there any must try food item..review of pier J suggest a tea room, noodle bar... but what can i afford not to miss...

Not sure of next flight via HKG so asking.. i generally fly via SIN.

Ta

They would both be similar.

The food in QF lounge would be slightly better. Also desert. And Pure Blonde on tap in QF lounge.

QF J lounge in HKG is amazing, I prefer it over the Pier you have access to both so I suggest you check them out.

QF J lounge was great when we visited, but we also had access to the CX F lounge, my favourite so far.

I love the vibe in the Pier J lounge and the noodle bar is excellent. Also the bartender was happy to deliver coughtails to our seats.

The QF lounge seems to have 'fresher' food... salads and the like. The CX lounges can be a bit stodgy in their offerings (noodle bar aside). The CX lounges have champagne, the QF one doesn't, but it has a good bar. I'd go to both lounges, but they are at opposite ends of the airport. If you start at the QF lounge you can take the travellator all the way up to the Pier.

The CX "Wing" lounge would more convenient for QF flights and is pretty similar to the "Pier" lounge.

Having been to all CX J lounges at HNG in the last 3 months and spending about 20 hours in there in total I'd say that nothing is actually unmissable. The Pier is the best. If you haven't seen it before I'm sure you'll be impressed. Plenty of food options, good showers, rest areas etc. Depending on the amount of time you have you may want to just stay at the closest lounge to your gate. Don't forget that the airport is huge. Expect it to take up to 20 minutes to walk from one end to the other.

I'd avoid the QF lounge though. Soulless in my view and the food was awful.

Also, lots of recent discussion about these lounges here:

Which CX HKG Lounge?

Similar to the QF lounge? I think the Wing is very different to the Pier and I actively avoid the lounge. It often gets crowded because ti's the first lounge people come across. The Pier is about as close as you get to an F lounge in terms of fit-out. The Wing is firmly in the business class category.

I must be a bit different to most posters here, because I can think of nothing worse than lounge-hopping!

My wife and I travelled through HKG twice in June (1 x morning, 1 x evening), and we found The Pier J to be superb. Our goal with a lounge is to have somewhere nice with good food and drinks, and not too crowded, then just blob out and relax until time to board. The Pier is very under-utilised compared to the likes of The Wing, although because of this it lacks some atmosphere because there are so few travellers in there. But I'll take this any day over the more crowded lounges which seem to be the norm these days. Loved being able to get a nice shower without a wait.

Thought that I might add a map for you.

I started this thread which is very similar too.

Which CX HKG Lounge?

If I had a choice of only one lounge it would be the Pier. Food that I enjoyed was the dim sum, egg tarts and eclairs. Also ask for some Häagen-Dazs ice-cream (one of my favourites). Noodles & coughtails good too. If you are bored, visit all the lounges but I found the Wing terrible (over-flowing with pax).

The QF lounge (located on level 3 above Gate 15) is good with good food but less choice.

Enjoy!

Isn't there also the CX "The Cabin" J lounge?

Used to be my favourite, relatively quiet, champagne, antipasto bar and smoothie bar. But kinda got crowded when the pier was closed and now it's kind of third fiddle to the pier.

after 17 years of regular hkg trips, i tend to end up in The Wing - always. It is quiet, showers always free, and the section just behind the lobby has those big reclined chairs with big matching footstools - virtually sleep-worthy. Food not as good as Q but it is sufficient and quite acceptable. I love those little egg and lettuce bread rolls. I tend not to over-eat in The Wing, which is a good thing. Q lounge, for me, is crowded, less personal/private, and has terrible ambience - hate the open air location. And lastly, there always seems to be lots of noisy yobbos in Q lounge, which i find annoying when i am tired after busy schedule.

Thanks everyone, i have around 3 hours to kill...will try the noodles, bar(read somehwr that qfj does some neil perry stuff), eclairs and tart...

I recently tried all 3 lounge for the first time i am in HKG . If you never been to all of them i suggest you checked it out . Qantas J and The Wing J is right after immigration so i head for the Wing first look around get a bowl wonton noodle , after that is get to Qantas J lounge close by to get a barrista made coffee QF J lounge is very quiet out side of those departing hours of QF118 and QF128 . I end up spent the most time in Pier J lounge as my depart gate i close to gate 60-70 . Had a shower there then a cup of tea and relax

This for me is the issue with the QP at HKG!
It just seems too open plan to really relax even if the food is better. For me it's the CX lounges every time.

thanks guys.. flying out on Tuesday l, will do an update on what i enjoyed!

Does the QF SYD int J lounge still have the gelato bar? I seem to recall that as being a bit fun.

I am a fan of the QF lounge in HKG, but I may be biased somewhat as I did get treated pretty nicely once they realised I was P1 and on "the list" but apart from seating me at the bar (I had eaten in Pier F earlier) and a bit of a chit chat, I just found the staff behind the bar fantastic as a temporary new friend and I sat there drinking espresso martinis prior to our respective QF flights and just found the crew really happy to oblige (and not just to me so I discount status as being a driving force in this respect) and just friendly and fun.

Been years since I've tried a CX J lounge so can't comment on them, but I really liked the QF "vibe" and friendly staff, even if the table service/food in Pier F was obviously superior-and it's a great big lounge overall-if I was looking at J lounges I would put a vote in for QF at HKG.
