Hi All

Finally had the status kick over to being gold as part of the Status Match Challenge to qantas. I was required to earn 200 SC in 90 day window, did these in around 45 days..

I logged on the website and saw that there are two options
1. Keep gold - Which states that I need additional 340 SC (I am on 260)
2. Achieve Platinum - Needs 1140 SC

The wheel of fortune has the peiod starting 28 Feb 2017 so my question is how does QF treat the status ? With VFF i know that the anniversary date resets on the day you get higher level so you get 365 days to attain the required SC to retain.. How does QF treat this and more importantly when t is thru Status Match..

Thanks

QFF isn't a rolling period like VA.

You have until your anniversary date to earn to required number of SC's to either maintain SG, or gain WP. When you gain WP, you will keep it for the remainder of your current membership year plus the following year.

Hi mannej, thanks for informarion. Is this because it is a status match ?

I think when matched the status is only valid to the end of the current qualifying year, not current year +1.

Which would also make some sense. One presumes in the offer (if emailed) that would be specified in the small print.

Again, I would check with QFF to be sure.

The status match is there to give you comparable benefits to the ones you're accustomed to with a different airline sooner, but the expectation is there that if you want to keep the benefits that you'll fly enough to do so.

Agree with the logic of status match status being limited however, the Status Match is not so much of a match it is a fast track challenge..

Not that I have a problem maintaining the status, it is something that I was trying to get a better understanding of :)

I've requested for the platinum challenge a few years back and I had the same diagram as yours I.e. need x status credit to achieve platinum although status bar showing me as a platinum.
My anniversary was in Jan, requested for the challenge in Apr and completed in May. Status held for the remaining year and the following year.

When I did the status challenge (last year), I was unsure about this too so I called QF. They said it depends on the time of year relative to your anniversary date. As it happened, my 90 day challenge period was due to end in early December, while my anniversary was 30 November, so from the start it was likely that I would achieve the challenge very close to the end of my membership year. QF said in my situation, my status would run until 30 November 2017. In other words, if I completed the challenge quickly, my new status would last for just over a year, while if I took the whole 90 days, it would last for just under a full year. However, they specifically said this is decided on a case by case basis, depending on when your anniversary date is.

quick update everyone. received the gold pack today. i am confirmed gold access until feb 2019 so status carries for most of next year as well..
