I've just been informed that Sofitel will take over management of all lounges in Oz from Compass.

I hope Domenico and the barista (lady) in the SYD Domestic J lounge will be retained by Sofitel.

...together with the delightful Maria in the MEL QP - she always has a word for everyone in the queue...almost makes me exit the J lounge just to get her coffees...but then I remember the paper cups!

Regards,

BD

I thought Sofitel had managed Qantas lounges for some time. Was it only some of them?

They manage the Sydney and Melbourne International Business and First lounges.

Just FYI I also have some inside information regarding Accor. They will actually manage all QF lounges worldwide including Singapore, Hong Kong, LAX etc.

Word is Domenico is unlikely to be retained. A bit up in the air apparently, but not looking good.

They already manage the new Singapore lounge as I understand.

Makes sense in the fact they're worldwide and Qantas probably wants the same standard offered wherever you are, whether or not the different staff worldwide can do that or not ;)

Zut alors! Ou est mon concrete mixer?* :p

*Drat, Where is my concrete mixer? Don't want to be in breach of site rules for posting in a foreign lingo!!!

Accor are notorious for cost cutting when they take over hotels. That's one of their bargaining points when they are trying to win management agreements with owners. So we shall have to wait and see what happens with the lounges.

They say Sofitel to give it a luxury kind of feeling but technically it is Accor who are managing.

Well they haven't exactly cut back the international lounges, which they have been managing for a number of years.

hmm.. Well they have done well at the MEL and SYD lounges. But I hope some of the staff remain. Elizabeth in the MEL J lounge knows my coffee order well now!

You mean to say that the lounges will not be offering the delicious french cuisine?

I think the concrete mixer can park over there for a bit .... Whoever it is, Sofitel / Accor in the Flounges does a bloody good show.

And if they falter - well .. the brouhaha about the catering at BA Galleries at Heathrow won't be anything in comparison! They will take my eggs benedict with smoked salmon from my cold, dead hands (or forks).

à la garnison!

Perhaps, "ou est ma concrete mixer" (seeing as the french word for concrete mixer is feminine)....not that I'm pedantic :)

But if all lounges have same level of service as MEL/SYD/SIN then I will be happy.

Well done to Vanessa and Marion in Sydney F lounge

You gals set all the right standards

Top job too on London last year for the olympics F lounge set up in Sofitel.
