After having searched through previous posts and the QF website, I don't expect to find a definitive answer but your advice would be greatly appreciated.
I am WP and my partner is SG. We are flying from SYD to MEL where we will meet a couple of relatives (no status) flying in from LTN and all fly to DBX on the same QF flight, us in J and them in PE. In DBX they keep going on the original flight but we change to another connection and we meet them in LHR. After a couple of hours wait, we all continue to LYS in BA Y. A couple of questions:
Should we check in bags in SYD and LTN all the way through to LYS or wait until we get to MEL to do this?
Are we likely to be able to get all of us into the QF lounge in MEL (business, I don't expect First will work), DBX and LHR?
Thanks in advance

Hi Margaret,

I'm guessing your non-status relatives are flying in from Launceston (LST) rather than Luton (LTN)?? I see no advantage of checking baggage in MEL in either case, just check through to LYS from SYD/LST.

With respect to Lounge Access, both you and partner can each guest one person in the QC at MEL, the EK Business Lounge at DXB and the BA Galleries at LHR T5.

Regards,

BD

Mel you'll get access (1x guest each), LHR you'll also be able to get access. At DBX you won't have any guest rights as they need to be flying on the same flight.

As for baggage, a smarter person than I will need to answer that one.

Beaten to the punch

I missed that because I saw the oneWorld eligibility rules: as OWE and OWS you're each entitled to guest one each if they are travelling on a Qantas Marketed and Operated flight (doesn't have to be same flight) .. I'll let others with PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE advise.

Regards,

BD

Or each of you take a rellie into the MEL QF lounge, sit them down with a drink and then you head to the Flounge with your partner :D.

The same could probably be achieved in DXB and LHR too for that matter.

Wouldn't the lounge access personnel see that you have already entered a lounge that day (no problems at all, it is allowed) and also had a guest at the previous lounge?

If so would/could they insist that the guest leave the lounge when the person who guested them in leaves the lounge?

Not sure. I've guested two friends in the BNE J dom lounge and run to catch a flight and they stayed in there for a good 4 or so hours because their flight was delayed. YMMV

I don't think QF explicitly says that in their T&Cs but I do remember seeing other airline lounge rules saying so regarding guesting.. can't remember which alliance or location it was though.
