I received this as an email from Emirates

Effective 31 March 2011, Skywards and Virgin Blue will end their frequent flyer partnership. You can continue to earn Skywards Miles on Virgin Blue flights booked and flown on or before 31 March 2011. You can also redeem your Skywards Miles for return rewards tickets on Virgin Blue before 31 March 2011. As with all Skywards reward tickets, the validity will be a year from date of issue, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the reward. However, changes to reward bookings will not be permitted after 31 March 2011.
Hardly surpising given the new VB alliance and just as well I used my Emirates points in Dec...

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's not a surprise, but quite disappointing for me as I've found Emirates quite reliable and good value in J - with great lounge and transfers - for monthly trips to SIN ex MEL/SYD.

Now there is no direct Velocity earning option to SIN, except for rare Etihad services ex BNE or MH via KUL! Hopefully an announcement on a Velocity's status credit earning South-East Asia partner is on its way!
