Skytrax has published a list of the best airports of 2020. Here's the top 10:
  1. SIN
  2. HND
  3. DOH
  4. ICN
  5. MUC
  6. HKG
  7. NRT
  8. NGO
  9. AMS
  10. KIX
No surprise really that 4 of the top 10 airports are in Japan, and 8/10 in Asia!

MEL won best airport in Australia/Pacific, coming it at 17th place overall, and ADL won best regional airport in Australia/Pacific. SYD won best airport staff in Australia/Pacific. The top U.S. airport was IAH at #31. Not sure how OOL come #61 or PER #62.

Not sure how SYD can win best anything.

Is Skytrax still using the "pay to win" system of ranking?

I dunno about ICN. They may have day tours for transit pax, and cultural activities for entertainment, but the airport itself is awful to transit - huge queues if you have to transfer terminals. Time before last I was 45 mins waiting to clear transfer security :( AMS? Absolutely packed! The remote check-in desks for Terminal 1A or whatever it is are painful, and their security process is highly inefficient (almost every bag seems to be directed for secondary, and 9 times out of 10 they find nothing).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I actually like AMS! Flown out of there many times and I find it generally pleasant and efficient for a European airport, and it's very convenient to get to by train. The observation deck is pretty good, too. I will admit that Terminal 1A is a long walk, and many of the lounges there are sub-standard.

DOH could use some more useful way finding signage. Quite easy to get lost in that terminal.

Shock Horror PER not in the top ten ;) [now I'll quietly duck for cover LOL]

And the 2021 winner is... a teddy bear! 🧸

Hmmm. I stick by the points I made a year ago... nice for airports to have free accommodation and day tours... but in SIN and HKG I don't need them with a transit time of under an hour! (I'll take the latter!)

I dunno, I always found Skytrax suspicious in their ratings and claiming Doha as the world's best airport stinks badly. Maybe it's a result of being one of the few airports in the world that people actually used over Covid but other than that, I'm not convinced. Now if you can get the Business suites, then the airline itself I don't have an issue with. But Doha airport is rather a reason NOT to fly them if you ask me:

Endless long walks, bad signage, unfair lounge access (why the heck to Qatar highest tier frequent flyers get into Qantas' lovely First lounges but the other way round as a Qantas FF you get shoved into the notoriously overfilled Business lounge in Doha has never made any sense to me, besides $$$ of course), overpriced duty free shops and the nastiest customs and border control agents outside of Russia- all not a great pleasure. And the very worst is having a brand new airport and then EVERY second or so plane is a bloody bus gate which always drives me nuts.
