Has anyone used Skype Wifi App outside of Australia? (No the Skype App)

Hmmm, not sure if it's the same thing, but I use my Skype via Wi Fi quite happily here in TH.

I'm on Android, so don't know if there are a couple of versions available, but I'm pretty impressed with how the Android version works; as long as the connection is good, I can chat and call endlessly.

Very handy when I'm out of the office without my laptop, near a reliable Wi Fi connection. :D

Assume the OP is referring to the new use Skype credit to pay for WiFI in latest Windows version - 5.5

I use Skype at work, home and my iPhone.

Skype Wifi is another application. What Skype have done is come to an arrangement with many ISP's around the world who have Hotspots. This App finds one of these hotspots and when the new App is used to make a call a charge occurs that includes the hotspot use.
Seems useful when no free Wifi is available.

Skype WiFi - Wireless Internet Access from WiFi Hotspots - Skype

I checked the price of calls and in Hong Kong it is approx 10 to 15c/min depending on which hotspot is found.

Have tried to test the app out at home but could not detect any of their hot spots listed. (Maybe I don't live near a hot spot)

I'll admit this is the first I've heard of this new offering, but why would I pay for something that I could just as easily use from the phone? (Free wi-fi+skype app=free calls (or paid if I choose).)

What are the benefits of using their own stand-alone wifi service over one at a local coffee shop/airport/bar/hotel etc?

Will check out the link for future reference - thanks a lot! :)
