Site Leaders Usernames a Different Colour to Regular Members

I see our esteemed moderators now have different coloured handles to the rest of us.

Did this just happen? Or did I miss it a while ago?

And finally (as a quidnunc) Why?

Yes, Support had an idea a couple of days ago and just changed them to differentiate us in the current members logged in list (at the bottom of the front Community page)

I have moved these posts to Suggestions and Feedback to give a more detailed answer.

The main reason for the change was to increase the visibility of Site Leaders (as if Moderator/Administrator above an avatar wasn't enough) for members who may be seeking help. With a username that stands out a little more in key areas of the site, it certainly makes it easier to see if there's someone online that you can Private Message about a problem. In any case, it's a trial, and has been running since Tuesday so we've been waiting for someone to notice and say something. As QF WP mentions, the full affect of this change is seen in the Currently Active User list, on the bottom of the Discussion Board, where Site Leaders now stand out a bit more.

As I'm sure the question will arise, colour choice was tricky. The colour we have right now is a complementary colour (directly opposing the standard colour on a colour wheel). We also looked at triadic colours, analogous colours and colour shades.

I would love to know your thoughts.

I noticed it and assumed that you wanted to highlight our 'leaders'. I think it looks good.

Firstly thanks for both the public responses and private message about my post.

I think it's a great idea and as noted guides members who may need assistance.

This especially important as our site grows larger and we get more members who may need assistance and as you've noted this helps them find the appropriate people.

For me the colour actually works because I did notice it.

I believe so.

Implementation within the app is likely to be a more complicated matter.

Noticed it when it first came out. Put 2+2 together to get 4 and just assumed this was the correct answer without asking.

I'm still not fussed with the Moderators colour, but at least it stands out so that's important from the visability side of Moderation. Now if we were to change to purple
