We are looking at booking a 3 day stopover in Singapore on our way back from Koh Samui later this year.

There will be 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 kids aged 5 and 7.

I have stayed in Singapore previously but about 5 years ago now and usually only in transit.

This will be the first trip to Singapore for my wife and kids.

We would like something reasonably central and around the $200 - $250 / night range. We don't mind if we all share a room to keep the cost down.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Quincy Hotel, near Orchard Road. Funky hotel, all meals included, great service. Got it for under $250 a night last year. I loved the place!

When exactly are you planning on staying, if there is a convention in town the prices skyrocket!

It's not until late September. Trying to confirm flights and accommodation at Koh Samui now as school holidays are cutting into availability quite rapidly. Not as concerned about accommodation in Singapore but SWMBO would rather get something confirmed now

I've booked Carlton Hotel for April and they let four of us stay in one room provided the kids (4 and 5 years old) shared the existing bedding (twin room). The 14 days advanced purchase rates on their website are fantastic and well within your budget.

PARKROYAL on Pickering
This is newly opened and looks very green  They did have some specials around SGD250 incl room up grade and breaky but not sure if these are still valid or for your times. GHA.com currently have it for SGD278 but search around there should be specials

The rooms are quite small though.

You mean 200 - 250 for all four? Tough gig I think, 3 to a room is not unusual but 4 is. But I'm sure the answer is out there! :)

Ibis on Bencoolen street is usually nicely priced, has connecting rooms available, and I know people who have stayed there and were quite happy with it.

Not exactly central but a work colleague recently stayed at the Festive Hotel on Sentosa in one of their Family King rooms (2 adults and 3 kids) and was quite happy with it. They picked up a 3d/2n deal which included entry for two to Universal Studios, the waterpark and aquarium for around $250AUD per night. Looks like some of the hotel booking websites still have the offer.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Looking for rooms online for a family of 4 has proven problematic as many of the hotel reservation engines don't allow a family of 4.

Have had rearrange dates by one week as well due to the Grand Prix being on 21-22-23 September.

Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre is great for families, we stayed 11 nights over xmas. Cost was around $240 AUD for a club room with two double beds. Even had a xbox kinect set up in the lobby with kids activities from 10-2 every day

Its a 2 minute walk to Orchard Road

Use the family and friends rate if you can, kids eat free as well.

I've stayed at the novetel Clarke Quay before, great location, and great hotel, fairly well priced too!

Enjoy your trip, I love Singapore!!! Hope your kids enjoy Universal Studios (if you go there), we loved it!!

The Holiday Inn Orchard City Centre has a nice pool & is in a very favourable location IMO :D

Thanks for this and the Friend and Family Rate tip.

I have stayed here previously albeit a few years ago and thought it a good hotel / location. The family and friends rate is A$220 +++ per night in a club room with two double beds, so I might just book this.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I like the InterContinental and Four Seasons. New Majestic and Wanderlust are great design hotels but unsure if the kids will appreciate.

Edit: Sorry just noticed your budget. I'd go with Quincy in that case or the Novotel. I seem to recall the IC can be had at the sub $300 mark also at retail.
