Hi there

I'm flying SIN - SYD route J class later this year.

Interested in others' thoughts on SQ211, the mid morning departure from SIN. It's operated by the 777-300, which reportedly has the worst seats and config (2-2-2) of SQs aircraft on the route because the seats aren't lie flat and everyone gets a neighbour.

We're on holiday so wont't be in a rush so schedule is not key. As it's a day flight, I wouldn't want to sleep anyway, so the non lie-flat seat doesn't seem that big a deal. I'll want to sit next to Mrs F_D so being seated next to someone isn't an issue either. Plus I've heard the 'better' extra wide seats on the B777-200ER (the other day flight) aren't very comfortable in the upright/seated position.

Both overnight flights are being operated by A380s when we're travelling, so choosing the B777-300ER to get the new J product isn't a consideration either.

I'm leaning towards taking SQ211 and fully enjoying the SQ inflight service. Am I making the wrong choice? Which flight would you choose?

Looking forward to hearing views on this.

I've done day and overnight J flights on the 77W, 777-300 and A330.

The angled flat is fine for day time flights- they are as good as angled flat seats get. Get a good night's sleep, and enjoy the flight by watching movies and eating and drink and generally just doing nothing. Nap for an hour if you're tired. You've picked a fantastic airline.

If you want to be awake and enjoy the service, which seems like a great idea, the 777 will be fine

+1 to what posted earlier fd - the 2/2/2 config known as 'Regional' fitout or Weber seats are IMHO more comfortable for daytime flt than the larger 1/2/1 angled 'Diamond' seats which lay flat for sleep.

The Weber seats have all the mod cons you need within easy reach - enjoy full SQ meal service - enjoy a few of the blue labelled Taittinger champs on offer - which is a seriously good drop IMHO - Singapore Airlines Now Serving Taittinger Champagne in Business Class - and whilst you recline and relax and kick back whilst taking in a movie after enjoying all food and drinks on offer you can quietly muse to yourself 'Well life just aint too bad after all'.

That sounds good enough reason for me Cruiser Elite! Thanks!

I would take the flight that suits you best.

The business class product between the A380 (bench seat), 777 and A330 are much of a muchness.
