[Cancelled] SIN lounge crawl 7 June 2020

Well maybe we can have a ADL lounge crawl - as long as I can get in to that 'other' lounge, of course.
Well if you are in ADL and travelling out on the same flight as myself I will see what I can arrange. Would need a week or two notice. Also it may not be in the near future as my wings were clipped from today for at least the next 2 weeks or possibly until further notice. I do not have the virus however I think work has started to crack down on the regular travellers and are getting concerned about how much time we spend in airports and who we may come into contact with from unknown locations.

The lounge crawl in SIN is very much up in the air (pun intended). Things are not looking good right now, so I would suggest make sure you have a back up plan for any bookings. At the moment I am flying SYD-SIN with BA a few weeks before, and with QR back to SIN from EU. If it just gets too hard, I will be cancelling.

If the lounge crawl doesn't happen, well, so what!
My original - bookings for this are:
Currently looking at a weekend like:

Fr: MEL-(QF)-SIN,
Sa: SIN-(3k)-BKK,
Su: BKK-(MH)-KUL-(MH)-SIN*, [Crawl]
Mo: SIN-(JL)-HND, HND-(VA)-BNE-(VA)-MEL.

The first two flights in Economy, the rest in Business. The JL flight departs 1:50am (before 6am the next day).

*Complete BKK-SIN business sale fare journey in August.

Fr: MEL-(QF)-SIN, Mo: SIN-(JL)-HND is a QFF award.
Sa: SIN-(3k)-BKK is Starter Max.
Su: BKK-(MH)-KUL-(MH)-SIN* is part of a MH sale I class fare
Mo: ... HND-(VA)-BNE-(VA)-MEL is a Velocity Award.

The first can be cancelled any time for a 6K points charge. The MEL-SIN leg has already been announced cancelled, but it is still showing on GDS (0'ed out) as well as in the PNR.

With the second the only option 3K give in regard to flexibility is to keep rebooking at no fee or get a credit with 6 months validity - but if they reschedule by more than three hours, a full refund.

MH are offering rebooking for fare difference until May 31st.

HND-//-MEL can be cancelled for $60, but I doubt it will operate; two weeks ago, I booked an QF HND-xSYD-MEL as a backup wich can be cancelled for 6K, but I suspect its chances of operating are similar to the VA HND flight.

Accommodation? @SIN 6 hour Aerotel Block is only non flexible, but I have come across good reports of cancellation refunds.

Yes - stuff happens and a lounge crawl becomes rather minor in the scheme of things, so does the prospective 160 SC earn - at this stage my attendance is unlikely.

60SC? Crikey, I was working on 2,000 or so.

That is why you are famous who else could concock 2000 SC or TP for a trip from Asia to AU. Your trip to either HKG or SIN (cannot remember which one) springs to mind.
Well I was planning on transiting SIN four times, and EU at least twice!

With all virus stuff that has my immediate attention I am starting to wonder if I should give that a miss and go on one SC runs.

I was hoping to earn 180SCs + any MH SCs for this weekend which would have been a good start to my membership year as travel has slowed down a lot.

I'm still 530SCs short this membership year with just over 2 months to go. With overseas travel restrictions in place it's going to be very hard. I had 200 SCs booked 2 weeks ago on MH day trip but they cancelled many flights turning it into a 2 day trip and I opted for full refund instead.

Not the end of the world but some interesting dilemmas.

My year started this month and I've already hit 700SC. The end of this run would have seen me cross past 1200SC and a recent re-booking and quick cancellation regarding Bali this weekend would have seen me on about 1100SC before the end of March instead, so I have some work to do but wont be nearly as far out of the hunt as others.

I have cancelled all upcoming flights though, including the flights for this crawl.

With all that is Happening I am pulling out of this hopefully, it is rescheduled once normality returns.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

And there's another AFFer right behind me. She may not want to move.

Unfortunately it looks like she will have to give up the seat :(

Given it is now a "do not travel" advice and quarantine for 2 weeks on return with no end date in sight, I'm going to have to pull out as work has requested we seriously do not travel overseas for personal trips, work trips is already banned; and I still have to undergo an ASD closure procedure in late June. Too risky at this stage since the experts are predicting an escalation in the next couple of months.

Was so looking forward to this. Will eagerly wait for next one.

“It seemed like a good idea at the time”, as they say. 😉

Did you get notified of your flight cancellation? I just checked and QF35 is still there and not marked as cancelled so I’m wondering if I’ve missed something?

I was heading up to SIN with SQ in late May and back with QF.
