I can't help wondering if the medium range business seat won't be a better outcome than the long range version. Having just come back from a Europe trip, with 3 of the 4 legs in non-bulkhead seats, it was not easy to get really comfortable with the forward facing seat and the offset footwell. The fold down bed is much flatter than a convertible seat, but with limited padding.

Begs the question: how do highly paid designers and experienced airline staff manage to get such basics wrong?

Do they not think as you do, and test the practicality of designs?

Are they so far -- themselves (superiority complexes, huge pay cheques, no need to ever mix with passengers) that they don't understand that "little" changes like this infuriate many passengers, who want to get as deep a sleep as is possible on an aircraft?

I never find sleeping on aircraft, no matter in what class, as easy as on trains but it's doubly hard if one has to also partially be a contortionist.

Just flew a 359 and read many comments beforehand that they were terrible and I have to agree

Woke up with excruciating leg cramps from the side bend sleep and there was only one forward toilet

.............. and there was only one forward toilet

Normally there are 3 for the J cabin - one forward which will sometimes be locked off for extended periods (there is a second door to isolate this toilet to the flight deck area), and one either side of the aircraft near the main galley - next to Row 18. This for the long haul config.

Personally I find the original 359 J seat extremely comfortable for lounging and sleeping, both bulkhead and non bulkhead. I flew the new version last week on a red eye, although the bed is a little narrow the seat is really comfy and the design feels very well thought out. I’m happy with either and it’s great to see BNE all 359. That said, it would be even better if F came to BNE with a 777...

Economy on this aircraft last week was awful.

Cramped seat and if you're a big person there is limited space in front of you and if seat in front reclines there is no room.

The only plus is bigger IFE screen.

Is this the future we have been asking for with cheaper airfares? Please keep 747s and A380s.
