Hi all

Apologies if this question has been raised previously, however I joined QC through a Corporate Scheme and paid up to August 2013. I am currently Silver and approaching Gold which includes free QC. My FF anniversary is February 2013, meaning my gold status will be applicable til February 2014. What happens to the QC membership I've paid for, between the date I become eligible for Gold (June 2012 and August 2013?) Will it be refunded? Offered to a family member ??

Thanks:cool:

Nope. Not as far as I know

When you become gold, the remaining period will be put on hold, until such time as you drop below gold again.

This is what happened with my QC when my husband was travelling so much that after reaching platinum and then some, his status points then were allocated to me and pushed me up to gold. This was a few years ago and I don't think that happens anymore. Husband flies enough so that he hasn't paid QC for years but when he stops the rest of his membership will kick in. Except its been so long, well over 10 years that we can't remember how long this will be for. Hopefully lifetime gold soon anyways.

You got partner gold which still happens, allbeit at a higher level of SCs, your husbands SCs were not allocated to you as such.

We keep a record of your QC membership status when you reach Gold (or Platinum), and if you ever return to Silver or Bronze that remaining membership will kick in again.

Unless of course you reach Lifetime Gold, so you will never drop.

Note also to the OP that Gold lounge access is much better than Qantas Club.
Qantas Club is Qantas, AA and very limited BA
Gold includes all oneworld airline operated lounges when on oneworld flights.

A question for RedRoo:

What happens to QP membership that is on hold when one reaches Lifetime gold? I presume that once one reaches LTG the remainder of any paid QC membership is forfeited. This doesn't seem unreasonable.

It simply remains on hold, I imagine. Not forfeited but also never to be used. That is why changes to the QC benefits that allow a refund of remaining membership might be useful for people facing lifetime status.

To be honest I think LTG is a decent trade off for the remainder of my QC membership. Maybe QF should include that as part of the terms and conditions for LTG - it avoids any confusion then.

Thanks Roo! I just got dropped to bronze but a nice flight to London in July is going to bring me back to silver again. Still a club member though. Awful to see how limiting the seat selection is when you are only bronze though. My last pick was in the toilets I think, but a nice points upgrade takes me to Business class tomorrow! :)

Ok, I understand now. It was nice while it lasted, and I just received my gold card in the mail with no real explanation. It's funny, while I had my gold, my mother and I flew to Hong Kong. I didnt realise the perks that came with. I was standing in a loooong queue to board (Jumbo), and the people in HK were checking the people's tickets who were queuing up. Not sure why. They looked at my ticket and said, Come with me. Oops, in HK that isn't usually a good thing. But no, they took us straight on board. I had missed that we had priority boarding. :(

I will have to live for a long time to get life time Gold.
So my QP life membership is a nice safety net.
I dot know how many are till about. Mine was courtesy of the Australian Airlines days.
