A big thanks to the CSM who blocked 4 seats for myself and another WP travelling HKG-SYD on QF118.
Ticket type didn’t allow upgrade so I was very grateful to have the room to stretch out for a sleep.

Thanks again Peter
Nice to see positive feedback.

Out of interest, did the CSM do anything in particular to assist (eg, stop other passengers from sitting near you or move you to a quieter seat)?

They had spread pillows and opened blankets to make it looked like it was roped off. She did say make sure you move as soon as the seat belt sign goes off, and it was only 1 and 3 rows behind us. She came back to make sure we got the seats.

That's really good, proactive service.

I had the same thing happen last year on check in for PEK-SYD. I'd gone to Beijing for a long weekend to see if i wanted to go back into working internationally (i didn't - those 12 hour trips in Y were agony) and asked about an upgrade. As my ticket was non-upgradeable i couldn't but the agent kindly blocked out a whole row for me.

Have you provided formal feedback to QF? Rumour is that QF provide good onward feedback to the individuals concerned ... which isn't always the case in Corporate-land.

BD

They sure do. I gave some feedback about brilliant service. Then a while later the same person helped me with something else and she remembered me. I was able to let her know the outcome of the situation (sudden trip due to impending death of MIL) and she said my letter had been put in her file.

The feedback, at least for service onboard and in lounges, definitely goes to the line managers and individual staff.

I've had mixed success with feedback. One occasion gave positive feedback about two staff members (one in the lounge in Sydney, the other a CSM on flight to NZ, after they had helped find me some quiet seats then ultimately a J seat). At least a month later flew with the CSM again. She remembered me but also made a point of saying thank you for the feedback which she greatly appreciated. Some weeks later ran into the lounge host - and while he remembered me and asked how my flight was, when I mentioned the feedback he was grateful but said that it didn't get to him.

Similarly when I've passed feedback onto the P1 team I've sometimes had very personal responses ("we passed this on to him/her and their manager and they've responded that it was a pleasure etc etc") other times just the generic "thanks for the feedback". Praise for Canberra staff usually got the former response - probably as the P1 team know them.

But I strongly support all feedback being provided. Particularly when it is to acknowledge people going out of their way to help. And to let Qantas know some benefits which are conferred to those of status are actually very valuable, appreciated, and a reason we fly Qantas. Negative feedback, as long as it is measured, is also essential in my view.

How would one go about providing positive feedback to Qantas? I had wonderful service on QF7 and would love to leave feedback for my flight attendant but not so keen on calling Qantas and waiting for hours on hold...
