Should I be upset or am I being unreasonable?

After deliberately moving a fair chunk of travel from VA to QF over the past 6 months, my last trip should have qualified for QF Platinum (1,400 status credits).

My last trip was to Europe with Qatar in J, which had four sectors.

I returned 2 weeks ago from Europe and after chasing QF, sectors 1, 3 &4 have been awarded (status credits and points). Points and status credits for sector 2 has not been awarded, this sector is worth 60 status credits.

Now, I am on the way to the aiport for another QF international flight and am “officially” 15 status credits short of Platinum according to Qantas, so no extra points earning and no access to the QF first class lounge for this evenings trip.

QF call centre say that they acknowledge that I took the flight on Sector 2 but blame Qatar for the delay in confirming the allocation of points and status credits. They say there is nothing they can do.

Hence, I feel a tad dissapointed as I was really looking forward to experiencing the QF first class lounge in SYD and don’t undertsand how sectors 1,3 & 4 of my recent european trip have been awarded but sector 2 has been lost yet I am penalised.

The irony is that after tonights flight, I will earn enough status credits to qualify for platinum (again).

So, should I be feeling upset with QF or am I being precious?

That sucks but is pretty standard, lots of people sweating it out in the weeks leading up to the end of their status year hoping SCs post before, or retrospectively. Expecting all SCs for all legs to post shortly after a trip would be more than I'd be wishing for/expecting, myself.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I don't think the fault lies with QF here (aside from being part of the "system"). If they haven't come through, then they need to wait for confirmation from the operating airline.

Qatar is more directly the cause, unless you were upset as you were hoping for a goodwill gesture or similar from QF. However, when growing status to the next level, that’s not normally offered.

Entirely reasonable at being upset. If they've acknowledged that you've done the flight and the SCs should be in your account, I don't see why they can't assist by letting you into the FLounge and backdating any other WP benefits accordingly.

I'd go and speak with the F-lounge staff. Explain it. They hopefully will show some discretion and admit you. Maybe after a call the to FF service center. Good luck!

I’d be annoyed at Qatar but wouldn’t lose sleep over it :)

Does your frequent flyer statement show the QR flight DOH/xx_ with zero SC and points or is it missing entirely?

Upset yes but I don’t think it’s Qantas fault this time and they seem to be quite partifcular about having the credits. Our QR flights credited within 3 days so it’s extremely bad luck for you. Don’t let this spoil your trip.

I can confirm from previous experience calling to request a manual adjustment has been successful. I also argued the case that I wanted to use platinum benefits and that delayed posting was not my fault..

I would not though that mine was DSCs with QF, not via a partner airline.

And as always YMMV / consistently inconsistent.

I guess that there could potentially be two kinds of upset. The first upset at QR being late posting said flight to QF and the second being QF F Lounge not accepting that QR late in posting therefore not WP as yet and potentially denying entry to lounge.

I have empathy for the OP with my rise to WP delayed because of late JQ SCs.

However, I do not believe that asking at the F Lounge door is appropriate. They have a job to do and deal with chancers all day, everyday.

I've recently had slow and erratic posting of SCs and points from QR flights. Of four flights within about two weeks, two posted after about three weeks. Left it for another week or so but nothing happening, so I made an online claim last week for the missing ones. Entries appeared in my statement very quickly as 'unsuccessful - invalid claim'.

Phoned QF on Monday, agent looked at my booking reference and could see I'd flown (it was on a QF-issued DONE5 and I had the BPs), and manually credited them without fuss.

So it might be a case of HUACA.

Incidentally, the two 'unsuccessful - invalid claim' entries are still listed in my transaction history.

Thanks everyone for the replies am glad to see the situation would have annoyed other FFs.

I did not try and gain access to the QF F lounge in Sydney, was not in the mood to try and argue the case with the person at reception, instead I ate my fair share of gelato in the J lounge and tried not to think about what was going on above me.....next time F lounge, next time.

I have landed safely across the ditch and QF has already awarded status credits and points for tonights flight, so I am officially Platinum, it just took two bites at the cherry. If my missing status credits from Qatar are credited tomorrow, it will add some additional salt into the wound so to speak.

Good attitude R36.....but I'd still be a little peeved off as well.

I once had 3 of 4 Emirates legs hit my account pretty quickly. Put in 2 claims for for the missing leg, both dismissed. 18 months later the points appear on my activity statement but no status credits. Luckily the missing SC's were not the missing link to increased status or I would have flipped my lid.

Just lucky the flights weren't on JQ.
Reports elsewhere that JQ flights have routinely been taking 8-10 weeks to post this year
