Just wanted to share my experience changing the date and origin of our award tickets (2 adults, 1 child and 1 infant) from NGO - PER to HND - PER.

I called SQ and told the lady that I'd like to change our booking as per above and after giving her the date, she said there's no availability. I told her there's availability online and told her the flight numbers and she proceeded to tell me that new bookings and changing existing award tickets have different availability (which I didn't buy). So I asked her what I can do to change and she said she'll check and put me on hold. Then she told me she can change our booking to the flights I told her earlier but it's gonna cost us an extra 66k miles and around SGD 317 in fees. I asked her why would it cost extra miles but she didn't give me an asnwer and insisted it cost extra miles. So I told her I need to think about it and I'll call back later.

Then I called again and spoke to another person and he was happy to change the tickets for us and it only cost us SGD 93 in fees. We ended up having to pay SGD 143 more for the infant ticket but we don't really have a choice so it's fine. He even called me back after the tickets are issued to make sure that everything's fine.

I'm really flabbergasted at how clueless the first person I spoke to and how different the experiences were between those 2 calls. I'm just glad I didn't cancel our booking after the 1st call.

Were the flights NGO-PER showing as one booking, or sector by sector? If the former, shouldn't have been a problem to change. If the latter, it might have been married segments.

It was showing as one booking. I reckon the first person I talked to was either clueless or just couldn't be bothered to help.

I agree - if the answer to such requests makes no sense - call again. I've usually had no issue making changes (some very complicated - even adding a second stopover on a *A return award booking) but sometimes I get the most bizarre responses. More common are agents whom I cannot understand very well and/or they cannot understand me - even simple things like name of a city (or airport code).

I spent over 4 hours and spoke to 6 different people yesterday to try to change, it was a nighmare.

I had booked 2x business savers from BNE to TLV via SIN and IST. Since the booking I had waitlisted other dates which had become available. I thought this would have been a simple US$25 change fee, but everyone I spoke to had a different story on what it would cost and why or why it could not be done.

In the end I cancelled my current flights, and after complaining they "waived" the $US75 fee for one of the two charges for me to get my points and taxes back... Not sure how long they will actually take to appear in my account.

Oh wow, that must've been very frustrating. I would've kept calling as eventually you'd (hopefully) get someone competent enough to make the changes for you, but I understand after spending so much time talking to 6 different people you'd probably had enough.

I've read somewhere on a different thread that for some people it took a while for the points to be credited back, but for some not too long. Hopefully you get yours soon!

I thought we were supposed to make these booking changes online, and that if we called, we get charged an even higher change fee?

You can probably change online if it's only a date change, but as mine involved a different point of departure I had to call.

Thanks Greenie, I got them today, so about 3 business days. I've now booked the flight I was after, so all sorted :)
Good to hear tgt01, that was really fast! When I queried about cancelling, I was advised a few weeks by the first lady I spoke to!

oh oh, now you have got me worried. :p
I need to change the date AND destination on a rewards booking I have. Hopefully the destination change should be easy,, its within the same zone.

Good luck, hope it doesn't take more than 2 calls for you! Would love to hear about your experience later :)
