Hi guys,

I am finding it tough to find QR F availability on the QF website.

When searching the BA website for example, I am finding that on April 6th and April 8th there is availability for two pax on DOH-SYD in F. However on the QF website there is no such mention. In fact, QR doesn't even show up as an option (in Y or J etc). It just shows EK and QF.

Does this mean that the BA availability is phantom ? Or is it bookable using QF points but only by phone ? Would they still charge a fee ?

Does anyone have any experience booking QR F using QF points ?

Thanks

Nizar

I booked QR F MEL-DOH-CDG for Dec. 23 on Dec. 28. Gotta love that long lead time.

How are you getting DOH to show up as a starting point rather than a destination, anyway?

Was this on the QF website ?
Do you have QF status perhaps ? Maybe QR F (or QR anything ??) is only viewable with status ?
(Not sure just throwing out ideas)

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Yes it was via the QF site.

How did you get flights out of Doha to show up?

Did you tick the box "can't see your city?" ? Also try a flexible date range. Not many F on QR coming up in April, I can only see availability on 18th and 19/4. Keep searching, they do come up, I snagged a QR F For Sunday week and then in to MIA in J, really looking forward to it!!

Some cities don't appear to show up if doing a one way option eg I was helping a friend look for award space PER/xDXB/BCN then BEG/xDOH/PER which would display as part of a multi city open jaw return award however if trying to book as two one fare fares it appears to can't do a one way ex BEG/xDOH/PER or anywhere else in that vicinity eg SKP, SPU, ZAG or DBV. As she's purchased the Classic award as a one way outbound on EK her options are either to pay an assistance fee and have QF re-issue the OW to an open jaw return once the award seats open up on the return or choose to fly back from somewhere else in Europe that can be booked on a one way basis.

I have booked QR F redemptions for x2 PAX using points, SYD-DOH-BOS via QF however it was not the simplest booking I have ever made and to be honest a bit of messing around. These were the steps I took:

Initially I was looking at multicity SYD-DOH-BOS, the QF web site did not return QR results in any class.
I searched SYD-DOH only and was able to see QR Y and J no F.
I the searched ADL-DOH-BOS, I was able to see QR Y and J availability (a350, so no F) for both ADL-DOH and DOH-BOS. As an aside I found that searching from ADL is an easy way to find QR onward legs.

I called QF and they pulled the booking together for me SYD-DOH-BOS, QF also indicated that there was availability in for x2 F SYD-DOH, however they would have to request these from QR and that may take 24 hours. QF put in the request for the x2 F seats SYD-DOH and it was approved within 12 hours.

I do not have to pay booking fees, however I think if you argued the toss with QF that the flight was unavailable to book online they may waive any fees. Also I may be wrong but I did not think QF charged phone booking fees when booking premium cabins.

For what I have noticed QR seem to be forming a closer alliance with BA so that may be why BA is showing availability.

Good Luck.

I would try the call centre to see if they can book for you - if yes ask they don't charge you the fee since it can't be booked online.

The only way I've been able to search flight from DOH is to use DXB as a starting point, then they'll show sometimes but not always - just tried this for the 6th but no luck.

BA shows 2x F on the 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 9, 11 April for DOH-SYD. With the right operator I don't think you'll have trouble booking this.

Just a thought - the visibility might have something to do with the EK alliance?

Is this your starting location or is it just a segment within a bigger journey? Also from your member details it appears that your QFF status is PS, I suspect this may be the reason you can not see the reward bookings.

I think your status is also the issue as to why you cannot see them.

I just performed a similar search as yld200, starting DBX-DOH 5 Apr (just as a starting point) then DOH-SYD 6 Apr 17, x2 F Redemptions are available via QF see below.

I would give QF a call.

I would certainly agree with you..

are you gonna use QF points or AA? might be worth just trying the AA call centre?

interested to know how you go as I found a similar award today that i'm contemplating. didn't show up when doing the 'flexible dates', but shows when you scroll through a specific date
