Hi

I know we are talking marginal differences but just wondering on what will afford best space on a 763 for me, mrssimongr and whirlingdervishboygr flying MEL-SYD?

We are on separte PNRs that have been linked and currently sat in row 27. Row 26 is free and bulkhead. As at today I can not access 23/24 (there is no 25 on this flight)

Sadly I will hit P1 on the flight to MEL but I dont think the status will click over in time to snag the seats I want.

Is it worth the call to move to 26? I rarely sit in the DEF section as I prefer 24B or 23A.

Cheers

Well that is disappointing...

I guess my concern moving 27 to 26 is whether I will actually get less leg room...

What are you worried about? That flight's shorter than many suburban bus rides, plus there is food! Do you have an iPad or similar loaded with games? I can reccomend Max and the Magic Marker, Angry Birds, and Monsters Ate My Condo. Also download some film clips via YouTube Downloader or Real Player. White Knuckles (OK Go!) Barbie Girl (Aqua) and Do the Whirlwind (Architecture in Helsinki) are very popular with my lad. That'll keep him quiet surely - works for my son when flying DRW-BNE and SIN. The new travel packs QF give out are great too. Much better than the old Mr Men. My 9 month-old daughter on the other hand is a handful, but even then, careful management of milk until being on the plane and a few toys make things easier. We are looking at a second iPad for when we travel to Europe at Christmas though just to keep her amused especially when flying MI SIN-DRW where there is no backscreen entertainment.

Failing all that, noting you are flying a 767 which they had intended to replace with a 787 by now, there is the aircraft grade gaffer tape that should be provided to pax when boarding to make sure things stay together.... ;)

Oh that is so true. I was on one last week, the crew couldn't get locker doors to stay shut, curtains to clip into place. I thought the sliding door to the crew rest area was going break off during take off, it was sliding up and down repeatedly.

I'd be tempted to go 2+1 for such a short flight and "rotate" the adults mid flight. Gives him a window to look out of and keep him seated for takeoff/landing.

Bulkhead wont allow armrest up, but again a short flight who cares and the extra "air" space will be beneficial if boygr wants to wriggle about.

I am 185cm - leg room.

Entertainment is covered - we will be switching between iPads and some colouring books for entertainment (he will have my headphones on if I can get them on him).

The worst bit I find is waiting for the pushback with a three year old. There is nothing happening in their mind. Access to a window where you can see all the shenanigans of the airport (bags, trucks, etc.) is good. I love sitting in the QF Dash 8 lounge at T3 for the same reason - it is fun to watch the worker bees and vehicles at T1.

Haha last time I flew one of these, I was adjusting the head rest (gently) when it just came off in my hands.

Yep - had that recently - managed to fix it without duct tape - thought applying for my ALAEA certification...

There are no real good seats on the ZX birds.

IMHO, rows 23 and 24 in the mini Y cabin are quite good. You might even get a newspaper when the crew finishes with their paper run in J and the ambience is better than the main cabin.
