Quick question....QF63/64 SYD>JNB>SYD
Are QF still using the old 4 class configured 747s on this route? If so then the fwd cabin is the old First with lay flats whilst business on both decks are angled?? Have got my name on 4E out and 4K back but should I go to 16A on top deck?? Opinion?? Advice please

Much appreciated

If it is the old configuration with F class (you can tell from the seat map as there is only 1A and 1K) you should take the F seat without question.

F cabin has space, privacy and quiet. All other business class seats are angled, close together, and somewhat uncomfortable for sleeping. Exit row upstairs won't be of much benefit.

4E and 4K are close to the galley (4K in particular) and can suffer from noise at meal times, but that's a small price to pay for full flat.

Yes OEB and OJM regularly fly this route.

Yep

Most definitely select old F seats. Dated but fully flat. I selected 2K last year on QF64 and it was great. I am flying QF64 tomorrow (Thursday 5/8) and opted for one of the best solo J seats on the refurbed bird, 5B, which is also a good indicator of the configuration. Row 4 means old F seats.

Thanks for that info, MEL_Traveller!

I had noticed that the seat maps for my current booking were different out and back, but did not realise what it indicated. The flight out is an old configuration. As a lowly PS I could only change to row 4, 1-3 are blocked, or already taken. As I am travelling with Mrs. jxv I chose 4E and 4F. I will try to move further forward at T-80.
