Okay, I have searched around here before starting a new thread, and the only one I could find similar to my problem is an old one started by JohnK back in early 2009.

My question is related to two flights I have in December on AA with SWMBO and Reggie jnr. LAX-BOS on Boeing 737-800 in ROW 21 and BOS-LGA on Embraer RJ135(ER3) in ROW 4. I am WP, SWMBO is PG, and reggie jnr is NB.

When I use AA.com and go through the system to choose seats, it won't allow me to choose any seats that are classed as preferred seating even though I am OWE. Ironically the middle seats of the B737 are not shown as being priority, so if I can book window, and SWMBO can book aisle, we could put jnr into the middle.

Any suggestions on how I can get AA to recognise status to allow seat selection of the preferred seating?

Might be worth a phonecall to their BNE office, or the more expensive option of the instant up grade fares.

Edit
Q: Why am I unable to select a preferred seat?
A: Preferred seats are available to AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum®, AAdvantage Gold® and AAirpass members. In addition, passengers who have tickets with a Y or B booking code are eligible for preferred seats.

Suggests that preferred seatting is only a benefit for AA status pax.

I had this problem on a booking.

I just called AA in Dallas as suggested above and they selected the seats for me over the phone.

Ps. They had no problem selecting premium seats for me.

Not sure what is in my old thread but from my experience with AA call centre and sending emails to them is that Oneworld Emerald is not entitled to priority seats and in my instance the call centre was not even able to pre-allocate priority seats for my booking.

I remember having a lot of troubles (at one point I could not even get 2 seats together for 2 travellers on one booking) and in the end gave up and took the best seats available.

I have not had any bookings since the new threads have been created about Oneworld Emeralds supposedly now having access to priority seats.

John I can confirm that 19/20 of recent AA flights allowed me to choose premium seats online with OW Emerald. One booking wouldn't, but the phone operator could see and select premium seats for me.

Also - if I call Dallas in relation to a booking that has my QF WP # in it, I get routed to the Executive Platinum desk.

How recent? Travelling on your own or with a non-status member? I won't get a chance to try out AA seat selection until at least next year.

Oh no, not I.

Perhaps I am a different type of QF Platinum!

Recent = last 6 months.

Executive Platinum desk = as long as my QF # is in the booking, and I follow through all the voice prompts, then it routes me through.

It sounds to me like AA isn't recognizing your QF # as being OWE..?? This would explain both of your problems.

IIRC Serfty may have suggested removing and replacing the FF# sometimes fixes that..??
