I'm experiencing some weird (and frustrating) behaviour when trying to select a seat for an AA flight (MIA-DFW in November) booked under a QF codeshare on a QF ticket.
As a OW Sapphire, I understand that I should be able to select an MCE seat on AA flights. However, I don't see any MCE seats available when logged on to by booking on the QF website.
I've tried to log in to my booking on the AA website (both the AU and US versions) using my QF booking reference, but have not been able to do so. I also haven't been able to log in using a booking reference that AA gave me over the phone earlier this evening.
I did have earlier problems with seat selection for the entire booking (QF and AA flights), which I guess might have been caused by unpaid exit row seats allocated. Somehow I managed to select exit row seats on two international QF flights without being asked for payment. That seemed to be creating problems for seat selection for the entire booking. (The system was unable to display the seat maps for the two QF international flights and was only giving me the aisle/window dropdown option. Even selecting one of those options didn't resolve the problem.) I managed to resolve the problem with the QF international flights by phoning QF this afternoon and being re-allocated (and paying for) those exit row seats.
However, notwithstanding resolving that issue, I still cannot select MCE seats through the QF website; and I cannot access the booking at all through the AA website.
Sorry for the lengthy background, but who knows what of the above information might have some significance to my issues!
Is what I am experiencing a common problem? If so, any suggestions for getting around the problem?
Or, could my inability to log in to my booking on the AA websites be caused by the more general issues I was having with seat selection earlier (the one that may have been caused by the unpaid exit row seat allocations)? If so, might it be a case of waiting for the AA booking to refresh and unlock in their system, and trying again in a couple of days?
Thanks in advance.

(A dummy booking on the AA website suggests plenty of MCE seats are available.) I can select non-MCE seats though.
