We head for LAX next Friday on an A380 in 52J/K which seat guru shows as having power available.
Can anyone confirm this?
I'm not sure if I can take a spare laptop battery under the new regulations.

yes the A380 does have in seat power for everyone, even economy so no need for an extra battery, well unless the power system is malfunctioning but I would hope no ton such a new plane. Have fun on the flight, i get my first taste of it on the 13th March.

The 388 economy seats have the sockets are located under the armrests of the seat in front. Note:
  • No in seat power at bulkhead seats and exit rows.
  • Rows of 3 seats have 2 sockets, rows of 4 seats have 3 sockets.
So in a row of 10 seats across, there are 7 such sockets.

What sort of power sockets are they? Cigarette lighter style plugs, or US 110V 2 pin plugs?
Thanks for all the other advice on the money. Will get some cash at the NAB before we go, then ATM the rest as I need it.

Interesting comment as seatguru shows the bulkheads and exit rows as having AC power. I am a bit concerned now as I have pre-allocated seat 80K on an upcoming flight which shows as an exit seat and I was looking forward to using the power.

I have travelled on the 388 once before - 80K is not an exit seat. It is a seat behind the exit row "79" with no K seat in front - so extra leg room. E/F shows it as a standard seat.

There should be a power supply betwixt 80 H/J - there MAY be one on the lower right side behind seat 79J.

I am travelling in 10 days time and have pre-allocated 80A. I will be looking closely.

thanks serfty your travel is 4 days before mine so I hope you are able to let us know if there is power. I looked at seatguru and it shows up as having power between 80J/K and 80H/J so I think it should be OK

The power sockets are behind the seats at the bottom of the arm rest stem. The ones located on the seats in row 80 are accessible to those ensconced in row 81.

Look here (Click on the rear lower deck on the Aircraft profile icon for Economy, then advance through to "Make the connection" - you will get a brief glimpse of the location of the power socket.

Good News - there is a power socket readily accessible to 80A. It to the left of the 80A occupant at the back of 79B on the right hand of that seat. There's another power socket similarly placed between 79B and 79C (accessible to 80B/C).

It points at a 45 degree angle to the floor.

Here's a couple of images:

This was taken with the camera touching the floor and pointing up slightly.

Location:

In the second image, the socket is located underneath a discernible straight part of the curve just above the image centre. (You cannot see the actual socket in the photo)

Excellent, that means I'll be fine in 80K for my LHR-SIN. How did you find 80A?

Edit: http://gallery.flyertalk.com/gallery/A388-images/A388_80A_Front <- well it looks very comfortable!
