Hi all

I am looking at the seat map for QF43 a 737-800 from Syd to DPS and am confused as it differs from SeatGuru and Qantas own website

As I understand these 737 have rows 1 to 3 as business and the remaining rows are are all 3x3 economy.

Although when I go to select my seats in economy it shows rows 4 to 7 as 2x2?

Thanks

SYD-DPS is fairly "marginal" on a 737 so they block seats.

I suspect you'll find QF have blocked middle forward seats so platinum FFers can have the better selection.

Or to put it another way, there are ~ 168 seats on the aircraft and QF are only going to sell 160 (max) due to weight limitations on a flight of that length (numbers figurative only).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

What do you mean by “marginal”

I am a QF SG and have been able to select two seats in row 6

Meaning it's getting towards the your end of that aircrafts flying range when fully loaded, much like DFW-SYD which is also capacity restricted at various times in the year

Having less passengers saves weight so more fuel can be loaded to enable the distance to be travelled comfortably with safety.

Since they are going to reduce the maximum PAX load by eight it can better to.do it uniformally as seen for weight/balance and allow those seats with built in "comfort" for high value customers.

One caveat - depending on the winds / operational requirements on the day, they may block more seats (meaning space elsewhere) and/or sell the extra seats / carry less cargo etc so not an iron clad guarantee of spare seat next to you (but better than starting without a blocked seat!).
