Many different schools of thought...reseal vs keep open, fridge vs countertop....

What's your preferred method for saving that half remaining bottle for day 2?

Prefer to not leave any for the next day if possible. Never seen the point! :)

Vacuum seal and in fridge if otherwise. There are many 'solutions' all which work well or poorly depending on the specific wine. Less oxygen, low temperatures are preferred. Argon injection if you are a purist.

First solution I've found the most reliable.

I don't have magnums often enough to develop a preferred method :oops:

I bought one of the wine saver gas cylinder thingys but haven't tried it out yet.
 
I have a spare 375ml bottle that I can decant half a bottle into (right to the rim) and screw up tight. Allows me to drink half now, half later.

Unless you're buying expensive bottles don't worry too much. Restaurants just write the date on the label and screw in the top/push in a cork for most bottles and then discard a few days later if it hasn't sold. Refrigerate whites and put the reds back in the cellar/Vintec for the right amount of humidity and temperature. More expensive stuff is gas sealed. But, really, most of the stuff you'll find at your local Dans won't need special care and I'm with the earlier posters - just drink it! ;-)
 
Minimise oxygen exposure - whether by pumping oxygen out with a vacuum seal or using a smaller bottle.
Lower temperature so it's not sitting in 25+ degree heat e.g. Put in your wine fridge.

More oxygen and higher temperatures lead to more development and eventually decline. So adjust these two factors depending on how much further development you think the wine needs.

This technique using a higher quality 375mL bottle is the best I have come across. (ala John M?)

e.g. use the Wirra Wirra Church Block bottles which have an airtight (or near airtight) seal. Don't use the coughpy Lindemans bottle you stole from the minibar.
