Got this email yesterday:

Thank you for booking your upcoming flight with Jetstar.

We wanted to let you know that we will be conducting scheduled maintenance on our global check-in system on the day you’re travelling with us.

While this is happening, we’ll need to work a little differently which means that check-in and baggage drop will take more time than usual.

We’ll have extra team members at all our terminals on the day. To make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible we are asking all our customers to arrive at the airport at the time check-in opens for their flight. This will allow time to check-in, go through security (and customs if required) and make it to the boarding gate before departure.

We appreciate that this might be more time at the airport than you had planned and we’re grateful for your assistance and patience.

Thank you again for choosing Jetstar, we hope you enjoy your flight with us.

Kind regards,

Sounds like fun, NOT!

Still it will be interesting to see how it pans out at BKK on Sat night.
Will keep you informed of my experience.

FYI. On top of that, I got this message from VA (Only relevant ex MEL)

A section of the Tullamarine Freeway will be closed on Saturday 3rd March which will cause significant traffic delays for guests travelling to or from Melbourne Airport.

We encourage all guests travelling to Melbourne Airport on Saturday 3rd March to please allow extra travel time to the airport. More information about the road closure can be found here:

Ok so I got here about 1630 for a 2125 hour flight. Went to the Jet* counter (row E) and saw some staff getting ready. Then they put up notices advising of a system outage and of possible delays checking in.

Once they started serving it took about 15 minutes to process me and I was the first Max customer to be served. My sequence number was in the 500s. Not sure how many people on this plane.

She forgot to give me my lounge access card initially saying I wasn't entitled to one. A quiet reminder that I was in Business Max and it was provided with an apology.

Thank goodness I was first and not waiting in line too long. Hopefully they will get quicker processing people. Oh and I noticed that they also had to check us off the print out list.

Could be a fun night if it doesn't match up.

Am now home and when in the lounge met a bloke who flew up with me on Monday. His SEQ number was in the 600s. He was also in J and noted that there was one person on the check in desk who had the system down pat so the others worked around her getting everything ready for her to do the keying in. Took about five minutes per check in.

We landed early and ended up being bussed in from where we landed. Not a pleasant experience but when I got on the bus I fluked standing near the eventual exit door and was first off the bus into the terminal.

Another idiot taxi driver tried to tell me my street wasn't in the GPS and had me spell it out. I did and the driver nominated a street by the same name several suburbs across. I assured him he was wrong and there was a street by that name in my suburb, had been for at least 60 years and I had lived there for 25 years. I suggested he get a new GPS. He wasn't impressed.

When we turned into my street I told him this was the street not listed on his GPS. He then said he had entered a different street name. Fair dinkum unbelievable.

A Qantas Platinum should be entitled to lounge access without a lounge access card.

I'm testing that theory early next month.

In BKK, I understand that access to the CIP lounge requires a Platinum member to be on a QF marketed flight.

Oh OK. We are on QF flight number on 3K so should be OK. So many silly rules to remember.
