Samsung Pay Top Tappers promo

Did anyone take part in the recent promo on Samsung Pay where the people with the top 100 Samsung Pay transaction counts in April would get Qantas points?

I did, and qualified, and the claim process has been very glitchy. I'd be interested in anyone else's datapoints about whether they have claimed and if so when they receive(d) the points.

I was a winner too but I cannot actually figure out how to claim my prize... I am on with a support chat now trying to figure it out. How did you do it?

Actually, it was quite a mess, which is why I'm looking for other datapoints so I know when to worry and/or follow-up.

As best I can recall:

  1. For the first couple of days after the promo finished, at the place in the app where you previously could click through to find your ranking, there was a banner saying "Results Announced Soon" or something like that.
  2. About Thursday, in the same place, it confirmed my ranking and invited me to enter my QFF details. There was no confirmation email or anything once I'd entered them.
  3. About Friday, I got a push message and when I went to the app there was a voucher under the "Vouchers" section for this contest. It had a "Redeem" option, which I clicked, and was then replaced with a "Cancel" option, which I inadvertently also clicked. It then presented "Redeem" again, so I selected that.
  4. The coupon is still in my app, showing as redeemed. There's a "Cancel" button, and Expiration/Issue dates of 2018.05.30 and 2018.05.03 respectively.
  5. I tried submitting an online support request to Samsung yesterday, but the submission didn't work.
  6. I then tried webchat, where I had to enter the situation one sentence at a time because it wouldn't let me copy/paste the whole text from the support request. The agent asked if I'd talked to Qantas, and I told her I hadn't, because I wasn't even sure it worked at the Samsung end yet. She said if my app said redeemed I should follow-up with Qantas, but when I asked her to confirm that it was all OK at their end she said they didn't have access to that info.
  7. She did say they had problems with push notifications about the promo and were working on it, if that affects you.
  8. As yet, I don't have any new Qantas points. (I'm assuming it's 20k per person, because 200 per person for a total pool of 20k is a pretty worthless prize.)
If you get any useful info out of support, or if at some point you actually get your Qantas points, please let us know.

Well I just got off live chat with them and they are going to email me as my redeem button was doing what yours did.

I also never got the chance to enter my QantasFF details. My redeem button also does nothing.

So I guess I just have to wait for an email from them now...

I ended up in rank 64. From memory, after I was announced as one of the winners, I was presented with a voucher. Click "redeem", nothing happened, so clicked "cancel", nothing..., then went out of the app, and in again, tried to "redeem" again and then I was presented with the screen to enter 'delivery details' including the QFF number, DOB, etc.

And per the terms and conditions, will take up to 28 days for points to credit to QFF.

Note that in all of the past top tappers promotions, all terms and conditions have always been posted on the Samsung website and not within the app.

So I have so far still been unable to claim my prize, I have been in contact with them many times and most of the time I just get passed to someone else. It looks like there finally might be someone who is helping me via email now from the Samsung pay division.

I just (within the last hour or so) received a credit for 20,000 points with narrative "QANTAS LOYALTY - MANUAL PTS". I have nothing else that substantial on the boil, so I'm guessing this is the Samsung prize. I had followed up with them by Twitter and then email. If I can get confirmation I'll provide the email address to others, but in the interim I encourage you to check your Qantas balances.
