Hope I also receive the offer, have spent quite a bit with them this year since ditching the Hilton because of the changes to the Premium Club.

It is pretty much available to anyone. $49 is the normal price, but PriorityGUEST memebrs get it for $44.

Having problems equating Rydges with Business Class, I still remember my stay at Caloundra

I remember my delightful (and I mean that) stay in Port Douglas, where at the end I had an argument over crediting points, but relented and asked them to send my postcards for me. They took them, and they never arrived. One was addressed to myself.

A year later, still no card… they’ve proved how loyal they are to me!

Based on my stays at various Rydges, the word that comes to mind is 'adequate'. Certainly nothing flash about them, but o.k.

I had an ok stay there staff were pleasant enough they had the food discount thing. Rooms = average. Still waiting for points, I think. But it was the US school group setting off the fire alarm at 2 am that really annoyed me. Not much the hotel can do about that, I suppose. But with a four year old standing outside in winter freezing and terrified of her dolls burning to death. And stupid teenage school kids being stupid. Well you get the picture.

Thinking of trying a Canberra rydges soon.

markis10, we relate well to your Caloundra stay. I read your comment to Mrs LW, who simply went .

Would go out of my way to stay in an apartment over the hill or the Sebel.

Or simply keep driving to the Hyatt Coolum or Sheraton Noosa. Just disappointing that there are no Hiltons or Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza

Yeah I agree. They are ok, but nothing flash. They tend to market themselves a notch above what they actually are...

There is a CP at Caloundra but it is in the middle of the burbs (be it Pelican Waters) and its a franchise hotel, so they do things different (including no PP specials).

Have to add Rydges Yepoon to the business class ???? list, talking to the GM at CP Darwin last night I was surprised to hear at one stage it was a Rydges, the new owner back then quickly changed tack to ICHG thank goodness, they are well known for running down hotels as far as refurbs go.

For the time being when the Markis10 family wants to grab a weekend away its heading south, be it CP Surfers or HI, its hard to pass up kids eating free with adults 2 for 1 meals, and a room that does not look like it time warped out of the 80's.

Yes, have stayed at the CP, had forgotten that when typing my last comment. Nothing wrong with Pelican Waters, as like you, mini#1 and 2 are easy to please and family live in Noosa and Tewantin, so easy drive.

We spent a week there with #1 at Xmas/NY 2007, Mrs LW vowed never again. I had the pleasure of having to stay there for 2 nights due to a business conference being on site last year. Neither time the rooms made a positive impression - the early 80's decor really didn't do it for me either time

True, I like going to the HI Surfers Paradise for meals, but prefer the CP Gold Tower for staying.

I had a really nice stay at the Rydges Capital Hill earlier in the year, so can recommend it. I found the Rydges Melbourne very ordinary a few weeks ago, I suspect you have to be very careful which Rydges are good and which aren't.

I also got the upgrade to business class e-mail, though I'm not sure how good value it is (if the better room was guaranteed upon booking rather than based on availability, it would be much more tempting).

I've stayed at the CP Pelican Waters also, and found it to be quite nice. I booked the top room for $ (was a good rate) and then had the next 2 nights as award stays on the 5,000 point break rate on a lower room type. They said it was easier to just stay in the room I was in so got the better room for the whole stay!

HI Surfers Paradise has done one of the best breakfast buffets I've had at a hotel (with exception to that of Hilton Sydney) and having stayed in both HI SP and CP Gold Tower I actually have to say I prefer the rooms at HI!

I quite like Rydges Lakeside in Canberra. The only night I get to stay there is Sunday. Above my work limit on the other nights.

I enjoy the food and drinks there too. Especially at 50% off.

In fact, I'm going there for dinner with a mate tomorrow night, and I'm not staying there (it's not Sunday). Still get 50% off though.
