Hi AFF Community
Im looking to use my velocity points to book a business flight back from LA to Per on the 22nd Jan 2016 or 23 or 24th
At the moment there doesn't appear to be much available except flying Singapore via tokyo/singapore for equivalent of 175,000 velocity points and $550 (will transfer velocity points to krisflyer)
I managed to get a flight next week Per to JFK via Abu Dhabi 125,000 velocity and $180 in J class. (Etihad)

Do you think anything will become available closer to the date or should i use the extra points and take the Singapore Air option while its still available.

Would appreciate your thoughts and any experiences you've had eg if you did find something coming available closer to the travel date or if its not available then thats it!

Cheers

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Back in July, I was checking business reward availability on BNE LAX daily. I'd already upgrade to PE with points, but I was hoping a business seat would become available.

About 48-72 hours before the flight, 2 business reward seats appeared so I snapped them up immediately. They even waived the change fee! Call centre wouldn't tell me whether they were extra seats released, or whether someone had cancelled. Business cabin was full for that flight.

On the return LAX BNE leg, no further reward seats were released, but was then given an op-up when checking in! Again a full cabin.

It's definitely possible for seats to become available closer to the flight date, but it's a big gamble to take. I think you may be travelling at peak time too - end of school hols - which may impact availability.

It's a gamble. Check availability over the next 7 days to get an idea of what to expect. IMO about 4 days out is when it's mostly likely to be released.

Hi smit0847 and Im118
Thank you very much for your insights and experiences. Im going to go ahead and book whatever i can and not risk it!
