During our ongoing attempt to remove clutter from our house, I ran across an old "paper ticket" from 1998. It was for our family trip to Kuching, Malaysia, MH ran a direct Perth/Kuching B777 flight for a couple of years around that time - I think it was about 3 or 4 days per week.

The fare we paid was $923 for a Y seat. I just did a dummy booking on MH - the trip now requires routing via KL. The current fare Per/KL/Kuching return, for the same time of year, now starts from $655! Airline prices are certainly more affordable these days.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My first OS trip was SYD-SFO-SEA in Y and it was $1600 return in May. Outbound was either United or Continental (cant remember) and inbound was Qantas (had the row to myself and slept the entire way).

Dummy booking via Flight Centre shows about $1100 but I didnt dig too far into it to look.

Our honeymoon in 2004 we got a "killer deal" on MEL-LAX ret - at $1800ea for Y.....

My first flight as a 18 y/o, Sydney to London return in 1977 was $1300. It took me a long time to save that money.
It was with Qantas and stops were KL, Bahrain, Amsterdam before landing in London.

I sometimes mention to hubby, as we sit in J, what our migrant parents had to go through to get to Australia (via a boat) and the one time they could afford to fly "home", how long it would have taken, let alone how long they saved for it.
