I just took a look at the eligibility to enter the international lounges and it seems they've been updated to include the words "One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight."

I recall that it only said the guest had to be "travelling together" without mention of same flight.

I think you are correct...QF just tightening up the definition of travelling with member; otherwise we could have caught the taxi together to the airport and that would have met the original condition :D

Maybe they've been reading this forum too much... pretty sure it was mentioned in one of those meet and greet threads about how "travelling together" could be interpreted in many different ways. Oh well, I guess us AFF will have to retreat back to our lonely caves and be anti-social lol.

So my chances of seeing an F lounge have gone down the drain.

Book yourself on QF9 on 14/5 and I'll guest you in :)

Only if you pay for my ticket :D

Yeah... looks like my chances of seeing the F lounge anytime soon has gone down the drain as well :(

On the same PNR? Sitting togther?

Is Sydney F lounge that good?! I have BAEC Gold card but never found a good reason to book QFi flights ATM.

In a word - yes! And you don't have to fly on QF - as a oneworld emerald, you get First Lounge access if you travel on BA (or any other oneworld airline) ex SYD or MEL.

MEL and SYD QF Flounges are on par or better than LHR T5 Galleries First Lounges

al la carte menu really good

I actually thought someone had told me this before, on here, that you had to be on the same flight as the person guesting you into the Flounge etc... If it wasn't the case, good to see QF 'enhancing' it again, most often in a negative sense...

The exact wording, previously, was "travelling together" - which clearly meant (to most of us) being on the same flight. But it would appear some clever people wanted to argue the meaning of "travelling together", e.g. "we came to the airport in the same cab/train/sedan chair" - hence the need for QF to clarify what the words meant!!

I'm actually pleased that they've removed the ambiguity at last.

Edit: On second thoughts, this means that a QF Platinum / P1 travelling in F or J is treated less favourably than a OWE in Y in terms of guesting privileges.

Maybe a slightly better benefit would be to use the MH lounge? No mention of the same flight, just a flight operated and marketed by a OW carrier on the OW website!

"Emerald and Sapphire members may invite one guest to join them in the lounge. The guest must also be travelling on a flight operated and marketed by a oneworld carrier."

Or possibly even the EK lounge, but I can't seem to find the conditions of entry for QF on that one.On a side note might utilise the MH lounge and deposit my dad into the MH lounge and bring my mum into the QF J lounge with me if they won't bend the rules and let me guest 2. lol

So seems the condition for MH lounge is similar to the Qantas F lounge guesting, if you're an non-QF OWE instead of a QF WP:

One guest allowed and must be travelling on a oneworld operated and marketed flight.#

Is this generally the case for other oneworld lounges (business and first), or are there exceptions?
I.e. Qantas WP visiting on CX/AA/BA/?? F lounge, guest doesn't have to be on the same flight?
