Review date - is it the last day of the previous year, or first day of the upcoming?

My review date for VA status is 25 July.

Does that mean flights on 25 July count to the upcoming status year, or the previous year?

Not that big a deal, but I would like 80SC next year instead of this year! :)

I do not really know; however I have some anecdotal data.

When you earned the status what date did the flight post?

Last year I dropped to SG with enough SC's (over 1k) but less than eight flights.

I took the 8th flight on the 14th of the month, my flight posted 17th of the month and my account indicated status review on the 18th of that month.

My status review date on my card was the 18th ... as is on my new card.

I did this last year and it counted towards the new year. Your online Velocity account probably says "status credits earned since 25 July 2016", which means the status credit year is 25 Jul 2016 to 24 Jul 2017, with your review date being 25 Jul 17

Now that the date has passed, can you confirm if the flights on 25 July did indeed count in your new membership year?

Thanks for asking. Flights posted into the upcoming status year.
What was interesting is it dated it based on the arrival date, not the departure....

That's very strange - I suspect that flights posting in a review period that had a scheduled departure on a date prior to the review period's commencement may not alway post the same way.

Indeed! My reason for asking is that I have a short domestic trip on my review date, and I was considering going VA to get 2 eligible sectors to start off the year (I'm in no man's land with QF - close to the end of my membership year, way past the SCs required for Platinum, but with no chance of getting to P1). I've decided to just go with QF though, so I'll never find out which way it would have gone!
