Revealed: The map airlines really don't want you to see | News.com.au

“The most popular seat, 6A, is well positioned for those wanting to disembark the aircraft quickly without being too close to the hustle and bustle of the front toilets,” Skyscanner’s Travel Editor Sam Baldwin said.

"I just hope that the low cost carriers don't find out that there is such demand for seat 6A and start charging a premium for it."

A very strange article, based on flawed research. But, if people want 6A - feel free to take it ;)

Hilarious !

And the seat to avoid? The awkward middle seat 31E

I'll be sure to miss that on QF and VA's 737's.......

yeah, for some reason they didn't publish my comment pointing out the simple problem that seat plans vary between airlines and aircraft, and that there are many aircraft which don't even have a 6A.

also why don't airlines want us to see what seats are the best? if they wanted to keep them for vip's they would block them, pretty simple...

Bizarre, stupid article.
As usual the comments are cute:
"On my Gulfstream every seat is a good one "
William Gates Jnr of Brisbane

20 rows and 4 sets of exit rows before getting to the wings. That's one looooong aircraft

Yeah, that seatmap for a single class aircraft does not seem to reflect any reality for Australian passengers. It appears to be for a 757 aircraft.

It looks about right length for a 757 (notwithstanding the wing placement!) - but 6A would be in a closet for some airlines!

Except easyJet does not operate B757's, which is the closest thing that seat map represents.

I'm putting this down to some junior, who has never been on a plane, was told it was a slow news day, and to come up with a story quick...

From how I read it, they asked several questions, like left or right, front or back, aisle or window, and based on the majority of responses then pinpointed two seats on one variant of plane that they wont let on about. All up, very bad article… however, I did book a one-way flight BNE-SYD-WLG-ZQN for $250 on QF with their help that I wouldn’t have got otherwise. Good for finding flights, not so much for writing informative articles.

Yeah, 31E would be the crew seat which never look particularly comfortable to me!

Just wait for the confusion to set in when a pax tries to find the seats on the 4-class config QF A380. Both 6A and 31E don't exist.
I also wonder, what's the difference between 6A and 6F/right window? Why is the left window better than the right one?

The article went into that, apparently people just prefer left. So that would be the only difference.

According to the article the seats are off centre with the windows on the left (or is it the right) so you can lean on the wall instead of the window and snooze. So whatever aircraft they were suggesting has a staggered seating pattern where left and right don’t align… or windows that don’t align, however I’m thinking it’s more likely the seats.

"Frequent fliers have also reported that the left hand side of the plane is best as the windows are off centre, allowing for wall space to lean on"

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

For the most part I prefer the right side of planes. (or the side that will spend the longest looking out over the ocean)

Why does the QF economy cabin look like an old scouts bus? Whoever thought khaki and chocolate were a great match is clearly stuck in the 70's. Maybe it looks way better in person but that picture reminds me of school camp.

Looks like they've tried again and actually got it right for once. They must've read here as mentioned in the story. Not specifically our site but on line media in general.

They came to that conclusion after making a video following the check captain Dave Evans around NBW. He suggested that 71D was probably the best as there is no 70D.
