If I book a return flight on Jetstar (because this in combo with an accommodation package is cheaper than booking same accommodation + 1 way flight), what happens if I use the first sector but just want to use the return. The agent on Expedia told me that the whole fight will be forfeited in the case of first leg non use, and a google search doesn't seem to come up with anything reassuring.
Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

Normally if you dont take a flight, the others are cancelled as you cannot fly out of sequence.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Tip: Learn to use Google? Because really, it's been discussed 100s or 1,000s of times.

A no-show on a sector auto cancels future sectors.

So ultimatley, if you were planning on booking a seperate flight back it wouldnt matter as you would have gotten there in the first place...

Actually it depends on whether jq books flights as single sectors or as a return journey. But I don't know the answer to that.

I was thinking the same thing last night, along with the fact I have not seen a case where a return is cheaper than the sum of two one ways, which makes me wonder about the OPs situation.

Would it not be possible to make the booking the other way around, then take the first sector and not the last?.
