Hi all,

just a simple concern today - I am not savvy as to many travel things. I know that when I rent a car that I must sign on with the rental agency any other drivers.

But what happens with valet parking at hotels? What if they ding my vehicle? I had this (the valet parking, no accidents) last night.

Can I safely assume that all hotels that do valet parking have mega insurance? Or is there something I should be aware about?

Most hotels have a disclaimer about taking no responsibility for cars parked on their property.
that said I have used valet parking many times without incidentI hope my travel insurance will cover it.

I asked Avis this question during a visit to the USA about 15 years ago. Unfortunately I don’t remember exactly their response but I must have been satisfied as I was quite happy to have the car valet parked on the trip. Maybe it would be wise to email the car rental company and get their answer in writing.

I only book cars that have LDW with 0 excess. That way I think they pass the dings and scratches onto the next guy when he returns the car in the same condition as when he rented it.

Seriously though, with travel insurance damage waivers and the LDW usually included in my rentals, I don't even bother looking at the car when I pick it up, and they don't even look at it when I bring it back. It also keeps me from worrying about if a valet scratches my car. I'd just say it was when I was driving, or I never noticed it...

Have never thought twice about this.... I just leave the keys in the car and go.
