Just wondering, what sort of refund can get if cancelled a classic reward (points redeemed) ticket? I had a look at the t&c, looks like QF will refund the points but with a charge of 6000 points, but how about the tax and fees?

For example, I booked a reward ticket with 60,000 points with $200 cash for tax and fees, if I cancel it days before the departure date, I will get back 54,000 points(60,000-6,000). Do I also get the $200 back?

Cheers

Yes, correct

And if you have booked two seats, watch out as a known error is that refunds (points and dollars) only get processed for one. Then you need to call them.

When I was in Spain, instead of calling I used the chat facility to cancel some PE flights as I had found some J seats that suited us better (BKK-HKG-SYD).
Cancellation took about 10 mins, but getting the points and cash back took some time as booked originally via QF Thailand site.
Just an option but you've probably called by now.

thanks for this, i just had to call up as i only received 1 tax refund for 2 pax. This is so dodgy on Qantas behalf to know about this issue. I didn't even realise until i was looking at my statement for an unrelated reason and realised the refund was different to the payment. could have easily been missed.

Are the fees per booking? For example, if I cancel a return classic reward, will all legs be cancelled for 6,000 points?
It is 6000 points per ticket, irrespective of the number of segments. So cancelling a 3 PAX booking (it will be the one PNR but PAX each has their own ticket) will incur a total of 18000 points in fees.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
