Hello everyone,
I have a few questions regarding the Redemption Nominees feature of Singapore KrisFlyer and hope that someone can help clarify how it all works I had a read online and am still quite confused. I will list out the questions below...
1. From my understanding, if Son is nominated on Dad's Krisflyer account, then Dad can use his points to purchase a flight for Son - would I be correct in saying this?
2. Can Son purchase his own flights and have Dad use his points to upgrade Son's flights from economy > premium economy/business? If not, can Dad purchase economy tickets for Son then upgrade him to business with his points?
Essentially, my dad has a few hundred thousand credit card award points that he does not need which can be converted to Velocity/Singapore/Etihad FF (and a few others) and I am a Gold Velocity member. I fly quite often and was thinking of using those points to upgrade myself from economy > business on flights that I purchase (I usually fly Singapore when travelling internationally/Virgin domestically). Is there any way I could get the points onto my own account or even just any way I could make use of those points?
The only other alternative I can think of is transferring his points to a Velocity account under his name then transfer the balance of his account to mine (family member) which I believe you can do once a year then convert them to KrisFlyer Miles at the rate of 1.35 per 1 point. Does this theoretically work?
Apologies for the confusing questions but if someone could help me clarify how the redemption nominees feature works and let me know of any better alternatives then that would be great!
Thanks in advance
