Hopefully this Q hasn't been asked before.

Q1.Both spouse and I have KF accounts. She has points to transfer from Amex over to KF. Is it better to transfer the points over to my KF (as I do the bookings etc for both of us) or xfer it into her KF account ?

Q2. If transferred into my account and should I cark it,do the KF points go to her or are they lost forever ?

Thanks. I await words of wisdom.

Hi Somebol, I have been able to xfer her points to my KF account. I set this up prior. I tested with 5000 points and it was there in my KF account.

My understanding was that the name of the card and account has to match. That doesn't mean points won't go through - incorrectly - but it might mean the airline can reverse the transaction. Or even cancel it.

If you do the bookings for both of you, just get her log in details for her KF account.

Don’t do it. There have been stories on Flyertalk of subsequent audits and points lost. Is it such a big deal to put to her account if you are a nominee?

For points upon death best you both have each other’s account numbers and PINs. No points are lost until airline is told that member has deceased.

Was audited by KrisFlyer in similar situation, was a hassle and account was on hold for 2 months. In the end, all points had to be reversed or transfers to my wife’s account.

Thanks for the replies all. Good to know what can and can't be done. It would be easier I suppose if when booking flights, just one KF number can be used for all the passengers. That way, only one person need be a KF. With 2 KF accounts, it just means that if booking/upgrading with points, have to log in to both KF accounts to do so.

Fair point. But what might be of interest to one could be inanely stultifying to another. A question about saving a punter from having to log into a second account to make a redemption booking borders on trivial for mine. Should we comment next on how he takes his coffee?

The greater risk - and a real one - is that transferring accounts into one that is not your own can lead to the suspension of the account and audit. This potentially renders any issued tickets invalid, and delays the purchase of new ones.

That would seem to be important?

one work around is to transfer to velocity do a family transfer then transfer to KF- albeit with loss in conversion.
or use the nominee facility in KF.
