RED ROO, please clarify SC earning on one world flights. [booked before 29Mar]

Since the latest changes were announced last week, I am slowly coming to grips with everything.

However, after reading the Qantas website and 145 pages in the thread I , along with a few others am unsure about the status credit earns for flights on OW airlines booked before the changes were announced.

Will the previous earning table apply or will they be halved ?

My interpretation is anything booked before March 29 is the old earning table no matter when you fly or what airline.

All existing bookings were unaffected but there were some weasel words which in my interpretation implied flights post the change would still earn the same but the difference would be credited separately after the flight, so I would keep an eye on your activity statement to make sure they post.
 
As i recall what hasn't been addressed are bookings made for OneWorld partner flights made through those partner systems, ie not through Qantas.

So what's not clear is what points and status credits you'll get if, for example, two weeks ago you booked an AA or BA flight taking place after 1 July, and you used the AA or BA websites to do so, asking these airlines to attribute any resultant points/SCs to your Qantas FFP account at the time of booking.

The consensus from the group is YES we will make it apply. Many of us have forward 3rd party partner bookings on OW and booked in accordance with QF's rules. QF have yet to formally respond, but let us presume they will be valid until proven otherwise.

And after my last several AY flights I am surprised by the number of Australians in the J cabin. I was almost about to shout out "Aussie, Aussie, Aussie" but in my bubble induced state state I finally decided against it.
 
Thanks nonpop. It would be great if Qantas could make this perfectly clear, and hopefully the flights will earn status credits at the old earn rate.

It is these flights that will get me to platinum, but with all these changes I will only be able to maintain it for next year !!!

Lots of flights to NZ next year to use the first class lounge !!!

The reason that we chose Finnair was because we could fly to Hong Kong , and then onwards to Europe, plus the fact that they were several thousand dollars cheaper than Qantas.

I would like an answer to this as well. I accept Qantas can make changes to the program but when the communication raises questions such as this clarification would be appreciated. My view is that One World bookings should be honoured as they were made pre any changes and under the terms and conditions that existed at the time.
 
When QF culled the Status Bonus and Minimum Miles on BA with very short notice, I got the "new enhanced rates" even having booked before the announcement.
 
Got the answer that not the booking date counts, but the flying date. Missed about 3000 Points, but was too busy to chase them...
I would have pursued upon specific principles the main one being it's an opportunity to re-educate those Qantas staff not so informed. However, I do understand the time/cost issue and that not everyone can overcome that to proceed.

Been there, done that. I count SCs as very valuable. I had issues with an ORC with a JASA flight that was rescheduled and a payed upgrade on BA that posted in the wrong COS.

The points are a nice to have (especially if you earn 70 Miles per Sector on your weekly commuter flight AB).
Still 720 SCs till LTG ;-).

It would be great to have official confirmation that existing bookings on one world partner airlines earn at the old rate. We have JAL flight booked for next Jan and would prefer to earn at old rate.

Qantas is a major Australian corporation.

Its FF program is a strong profit centre.

The vast majority of its business is done via its web site.

Its a strong member of the One World family and constantly touts that as a virtue.

It has a Loyalty Department dedicated (I assume) to promoting Qantas to its customers and trying to retain their business.


Given all that, just why the HELL does anyone in their right mind think that Qantas would want to communicate clearly, promptly and accurately with its customers? :rolleyes:

Spoke to vey pleasant agent who informed me that we would earn status credits at the "old" rate as the booking was an existing booking.

It it would be good for customers to have this information added to the changes to One World rates, as I'm sure I am not the only one confused about this.

Will be watching the crediting of status credits after the flights !!!

Thanks for chasing this up for us Jojen.
 
I suspect its also very difficult for QF to know the booking date on say a JAL flight on 1 July...
Presumably with some of the non-Amadeus airlines, QF won't even know about the flight until a post-flight message is sent about crediting points.
 
By no means would it stand up to a legal challenge but we were told at the QF Loyalty lunch today that existing bookings on OW partners made prior to the announced changes to points and SC earn would earn at the old, existing rate.
