$5? Pathetic nickel and dime, nicely snuck in around their restructure. Honestly, and they wonder why they cop such cynicism and loss of brand value.

No problem on the $5 increase but one does wonder does it really cost $60 to change a red e-deal?

Does someone want to do the maths? That would be interesting

Once you add in the fare difference (esp. if changing origin/destination) it already is a shock in some cases, I don't think $5 is going to matter TBH

Got caught out last year when the relatives moved from PER to BNE, once the "New fare must be of equal value or higher" rule came into play.... It turned out to be one very expensive trip to BNE

Don't think many will worry about extra $5.

It's not the $5 that matters. It's the constant increase of "fees and charges" by QF (and VA too) to levels that cannot represent the true cost. We're getting to the point that it is often better to throw away the ticket rather than change it. (esp. when "new fare must be equal or higher") comes into play.

QF and DJ do need to be careful. They may find themselves in a similar situation to banks (certain fees having to be returned to proper levels).

I agree! And while it is only $5, its a significant % rise yet again, back in 2008 it was $38.50 and only $50 last year. Its a bit like the Pilots saying they want a $5 an hour increase, and AJ running to the press stating "Pilots demand an 8% salary increase", its all in the way its put ;).

I did SYD-BNE a few weeks ago. The Flexi-Saver was only $20 more than the Red eDeal.

I looked at it this way; $20 for an extra 10SC. I choose the Flexi-Saver. With Red eDeals going up, Flexi-Saver might not be that much more expensive (depending on when you book of course) in the future.

If flexi savers are less than $60 difference it makes sense, both are subject to fare changes which can be large at last moment!

Sure it does not matter but $60 is $60.

If I have a $95 red e-deal and want to change to another $95 red e-deal using the QF website it is an awful lot of money to spend $60 to change it. And it really has not cost Qantas anything. Lost revenue should not come into play as I may be simply moving from a Sunday flight to a Monday flight 3 months in advance.

This last increase is ~10% increase. That is a sizeable increase and not really justified other than we can do it because we can do it....
