I cant go past Pan Pacific Marina Bay. Gorgeous views, lovely staff and great lounge.

But it also depends on the purpose of your trip I guess... some people I know love Sentosa Island, but I prefer not to stay there.

Recently stayed at the Park Royal on Pickering. Great hotel. Big rooms. Close to Chinatown, metro stations & restaurants.

Normally stay at the Conrad and find it pretty good. Have also stayed at MBS (only good for the pool, everything else pretty average) and have a stay at the Grand Hyatt later this year.

My daughter stayed at the Innotel Hotel and found the location was excellent. Just across the road form the Dhoby Ghaut MRT. It is a more mid-price option.

I thought Hilton Orchard is a bit tired and not worth a stay there. I find its personal preference though..

In the last few years I have stayed at Wanderlust (Little India), Four Seasons Singapore (just off Orchard Rd near the new Ion shopping centre) and Fullerton Bay (the financial center near Gardens by the Bay). Different price points for all three but have enjoyed all my stays.

Stays n recent years in order of preference: Conrad, Sheraton Towers, Oasia Novena, Royal Plaza on Scotts. All acceptable, just depends on budget, location preference etc. Conrad is fave.

Don't know your dates...but the brand new Intercontinental Robertson Quay is taking reservations for stays from 1 September with 15% off. If you like the Clarke Quay/Robertson Quay districts.

Absolute fave is the Fullerton. Pan Pacific marina is next, then the Conrad.

I actually mostly stay at the Conrad though cos it's cheap, the other 2 are more for occasions.

I recommend hotel choice more around your holiday plans as there are very good hotels in every main area of Singapore.

What's your budget? Preferred location?

Quite surprised how nice the Grand Hyatt is.... stayed Jan this year, did a trip report and you can see the Hyatt part here http://www.australianfrequentflyer....tos/far-ea-s-ts-golden-80119.html#post1564897

Nice review. Budget about $400 a night, 4 nights of R&R on way home from holiday. Would like a nice pool and maybe tennis court.
The Shangri-La sounds a bit old and is a bit far from everything, but might be peaceful ?

We've enjoyed multiply stays at various Singapore hotels - some of these would be around your budget.

Four Seasons - has courts and two low key pools.... one is roof top. Easy undercover access to Orchard Rd
Mandarin Oriental - nice pool, not sure about courts.... Marina Bay area
Naumi Hotel - small hotel with nice pool, no courts.... Raffles area
Fullerton Bay Hotel - great pool, no courts..... Marina Bay area
Grand Hyatt - nice pool with courts.... Orchard Rd

Location of Shangri-la has been a turn-off for us however, I've heard good things over many years.

If you head over to FlyerTalk there is a good luxury hotels in Singapore thread and also a recent review of Shangri-La IIRC.

Highly recommend the Mandarin Oriental and Fullerton Bay - had many wonderful stays at both! Can't go past them for great service and fabulous pools with views over Marina Bay. MO also has a great exec lounge if that's on your list!

at that coin try and get a stay 4/ pay 3 deal through virtuoso, or amex FHR etc. a handful of the supposed 5* hotels participate which should bring it down to that level. The valley wing @ shangri-la seems to get the tick of approval from most over on FT luxury hotels thread.

have only stayed in an internal room at fullerton which was dated

at a cheaper price point:
sofitel singapore is across the road from la pau sat - got a double upgrade to a big room with a balcony, entry level rooms look into the internal atrium. had shocking service here, although it was a couple of years ago

pan pacific got an upgrade to a suite - biggest room i've ever stayed at in singapore - marina bay isn't super walkable/ convenient

hilton - agree with previous commenter - showing its age, pool is rubbish.

swissotel merchant court has a decent pool and good gym, located in clarke quay

swissotel stamford is a conference hotel, personally think the best thing is the location on top of city hall. shared gym/pool with the fairmont.

scarlet near club st is affordable, slightly quirky, nb not all rooms have windows

trying out marina mandarin next month as got it for $250/night - interested to know why SponsorFC didn't rate it.

reviews of most are on my little blog/journal
