HI

Trying to book a fare to SGN via SIN. SYD-SIN only is still a Saver fare but if you add the Jetstar flight its turns into a flex whereas to use the VN connection you pay way less. How does this make business sense for Qantas?

How doesn't it make sense?
Qantas has a margin in all those flights, so it stands to reason with their margin on top of the VN flight it is still cheaper than J* due to the lower wage costs associated with the service.

Qantas is probably also confident of selling the Flex tickets at the higher price point or else they would have offered more Saver fares.

Hi Christoo

If I book

Syd-SIN its only $1800 or if I book SYD-SIN-SGN as a multi city it sonly $1850 and I fly VN in J where as Jetstar in is economy

Seems they rather I fly on VN and give away margin rather then on Jetstar.

The reason I want Jetstar is that I have a J reward for my wifr SYD-SIN so want to get the cheapest option to fly together to SGN

Definitely pretty poor - particularly when you are only getting a Y seat on 3K, versus J on VN.

Can you just book to SIN, then single ticket on JQ (A$73 fo Started, A$113 for Plus)

Hi Mao999

Thats my plan but because they will be on differnt bookings I have to re check in at Singapore.

Takes away from lounge time and is a pain.

Can get SGN-SYD OK via Sin on single booking for saver fare though so at least that a win.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Should be able to use transfer desk airside in SIN to issue boarding passes and transfer luggage that has not been checked through to destination.
