Hi all I have a question that you may be able to help with. I have booked a trip to Italy next year and have done so on Singapore, so I will fly Mel to SYD Virgin, then SYD to LHR on Singapore, then LHR to MXP on B,A all the tickets are separate bookings.

So will I be able to check our bags through to from MEL to MXP or will I have to pick my bags up in LHR and re check the bags for LHR to MXP as BA so not a star alliance airline.

Thanks for your help with this

I don't know whether VA will through check bags to SQ unless it's in the same booking which you've said it isn't & with BA added into the mix it may be a case off 'too hard basket'.

Worse case scenario is having to pick your bags in SYD & checking in again with SQ who will probably only check your bags through to LHR as they're in Star Alliance & BA are One World so as a guess you'll probably need to collect them in LHR too.

I suppose hand luggage only is out of the question?
