I'm looking to spend maybe a week in Rajesthan and am after tips on lesser-known things to do (history, culture), places to stay (say, 4 star, boutique). Would like to do, but likely not enough time for wildlife spotting.

I'll be organising a private tour, so will be very flexible; I have a company that I have used before in mind, but suggestions on others would be welcome

Tentative itinerary includes Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kumbhalgarh, Ranakpur and Jaisalmer. Have already been to Jaipur.

Looking at AFF recently, I'm hoping @Happy Dude , @Cossie , @MEL_Traveller and/or @dajop may care to chip in.

MrP and son trekked through Rajasthan in January. They loved it. They also did a 2 night camel trek in Rajasthan. If travelling at Christmas time and holidays and planning to travel by train you need to book months ahead.

And they were blown away by this - their hotel restaurant overlooked it.

They didn’t actually do that much planning. Stayed in some super cheap (JohnK style) places and spent more on alcohol than accommodation I reckon.

They are prone to stomach issues but went completely cooked vegetarian for 4 weeks and stayed well.

Magical place. But it's been 17 years since I backpacked my way through there Rooflyer. No tours, no stars - just bumbled around without an itinerary for a month or so, using 2AC trains or sometimes buses. I did the desert camel trek thing from Jaisalmer - you will not miss a thing by not doing it. Jodphur was my favourite. In all places, don't miss the squeezed sugar cane, salty fizzy drink wallahs, and the chai and pakorah wallahs.

You're going to be close to Bahawalpur, Pakistan, and in particular Uch Sharif. It might well be a very short conversation regarding the possibility of a visit there, both from the geo-political situation and your available time, but if it's possible you would not be disappointed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Not sure if you have contacted Magan about putting together a plan? That is more his home territory & he continues to get good reviews from aa wide variety of people.

Get yourself on Youtube with these two channels which are currently uploading vlogs on the locations you are looking to visit in Rajesthan. Including a three part vlog on the fort shown in the picture above.
