Quick LONE4 Question

Hi Guys,

I just have a quick question some (2) friends are embarking on an LONE4 later in the year and are flying HKG-NRT in mid Dec. They've been told the only flight that had availability was on the 16th, though they wanted to fly a couple of days earlier. Does this sound right; or would you generally expect more empty seats this far out?

Is it the HKG-NRT flight only on the 16th you're referring too, because if it is then I think they are telling you porky pies.

They were looking at HKG-NRT earlier than the 16th, which is what they've booked so far. Do you think there should be availability on the 14th or around then?

According to expertflyer the following HKG-NRT flights at the following departure times are showing availability in L class on the 14th:

CX504 0905
CX450 1010 (via TPE)
CX520 1015
CX500 1515
JL732 1520
CX508 1625

All of the above seem pretty open to me (L9 for the CX flights and L4 for the JL one) - more than enough room for 2!

Note that E/F returns fare bucket availability from an North American perspective (i.e. It's what CX, JL wish to sell to "Americans". Availability can vary depending on the point of sale, so this can happen if purchasing from Oz (although L9 normally indicates wide open and generally would be the case for all markets).

I'm getting the same result through Gal...plenty of availability.

Not sure what drug your agent was taking prior to telling you there was no availability, but i'd look for a new agent if I were you!

Or were you looking for a very specific flight on either Cathay or JL? Because it is true that there are some flights with zero availability. For instance on the day I searched (14th) only a single JL flight has availability out of the myriad of JL departures on the same day.

Is there perhaps a Point of Sale discrepancy here?

As a follow up, the TA apparently has no idea what happened or why he said there was no availability so he's changed the flights for free to something more useful. Thanks for your help guys
