A few questions on using one of these BOGO free vouchers (first time redeeming one):

1. Do you earn points on bookings made using the certificate? After making the booking, the IHG site showed me "points to be earned : 0"
2. Do these nights count to the Ambassador Accelerator award (ie 15 nights = 20K points)?
3. If #2 is valid, for the nights to contribute to the Amb Accelerator award above, do I have to specify PC points earn, rather than airline earn? (I know on standard PC bonus point offerings on stay x get y points, you have to specify PC earn).

Thanks!

You earn points or miles on the stay and it counts as two nights to your total qualifying earn.

Thanks Markis.

Do you know if it counts to qualifying nights if I select QF earn instead of PC points as I've had the experience on PC bonus offers where I had QF earn and didn't get bonus points(eg stay x nights get y points) - they advised that I had to select PC points. Is AMB accelerator treated differently?

If you select QF as miles earn it still counts towards qual nights and the Amb accelerator.

You actually earn more points staying at a CP or HI . The points are fixed at 2k per stay with IC's outside the USA which is a joke !

Bit hard to use an AMB BOGO at those places, and its not 2K for am Ambassador even excluding the accelerator. Given the OP is looking at crediting to QF, in fact they will earn more at an IC than any of the 8 other brands.

Totally agree with you on PC points earn. At an IC in Aus the best thing is always QF for me as its 3 points/$ compared with 2k PC as you say. However, I just wanted to double check that It was ok to have QF earn specified to get the credit for the AMb accelerator which is 15 nights for 20k PC pts.

Ok, 'dumb question No. 189' ...

If you are PCR registered as 'PC points', and you rock up with a QFF card - will an IC give you both ... and what would CP / HI do ??

Hi Rick, My belief is you would get what you are registered for (PC points in this case) however for a normal Joe Blow off the street and not PC registered you could hand over your QF card and get QF points that way.

Hi All,

Didn't want to start a new post - my question is on this subject but not covered above or in other posts that I can find.

In relation to using my Ambassador free weekend night at IC Sydney. When I go to book the nights (through the ambassador portal) it says that the rate for the room category I want is $494.50 per night. But that the total stay is going to cost $1003.84 which is broken down to $470 for the Friday night and $519 for the Saturday night with a $14.84 service charge. I would have expected the total stay should be around the cost of 1 night.

So my questions are:-

1) Do i end up paying a) $470 + service fee or b) $494.50 + service fee or c) $519 + the service fee (usually the cheaper night is the free one in other 2 for 1 schemes)
2) should it only show the cost of one night? or is this poor IHG systems that don't show correctly as with many other things (like the zero points earn on this type of stay as noted in other posts on the subject) and at the front desk it will be processed correctly?

Additionally I am investigating cashback options for the first time and have noticed that I have some random IATA number in the IHG booking engine - which I have never entered and cannot delete - does this mean someone (an online travel agent perhaps?) has been and is earning commission off my stays? Interestingly I have a different 1 on my ipad to my desktop - wondering if surfing around looking for deals has allowed someone to attach their details somehow?

Thanks in advance for your help

Always shows the two nights, but you will only pay the first night ( second night is the free one ).
Seems as they do this, just incase you don't actually have a BOGO voucher ...

You often see BOGO offers at all sorts of places and usually they state that the cheaper of the two "items" is the free one......I wonder how long it will take IHG to start using this strategy.

From memory its stated that the second night is free, but if people want to keep giving them ideas for enhancements......

I am sure that if IHG adopt this policy it won't be because some nobody from Brisbane has made a vague suggestion on some travel forum

I would suggest never. I cannot imagine any circumstance where they would want to make the first night the free one. Imagine the gaming that would go on with that.

I hope they never do but if you look at, for instance, a Fri & Sat night at IC sydney there is sometimes $100 difference between the two nights with the Sat being the more expensive of the two.

Just a question about ambassador free night not posting. Received notice on ihg account today, saying it was a non qualifying stay 0 credits. Considering some accounts being closed, concerned about contacting them. Any ideas ?

Well technically you are entitled to a qualifying night. But without contacting them it's not going to change.

I'm guessing like most (self included) that you've been using promo codes.

I had a genuine stay post as NQ back in May. I submitted a missing points claim on the webform (this was around the time of the account closure storm - and despite it saying 72 hours or some such it took about 3 - 4 weeks for them to process it.

I'm not personally too worried about getting closed out because I've had 90+ paid nights over the last 18months and most of the accounts being closed appear to be people reaping 20k plus points from 1 night stays in cheap locations.

If you've had a couple of stays or have some upcoming stays I might just go with the missing points form. Or if you really are worried then do you really need 1 night and a few thou points for status requal?

Hope that helps.
