I am flying to Denpasar from Perth on Jetstar with husband and 2 adult sons.

I am Gold and hubby is Silver (he is a paid up QC member) which allows us to take our blokes into the QP. If husband elects to received EK points on the Jetstar bundle instead of QF points, will there be a problem accessing the QP? (His boarding pass is likely to show EK not QF)

Thanks in anticipation of the vast knowledge of AFF members!

Cheers

AS a QP member you have access regardless of where your points go.
Even if you don't buy a bundle to earn points you can still get into the QP.

They may switch out membership number to get in though.
As EK member with no access the bp will flag when scanned. You need to show your QP card which they will either wave you through or update your information to scan you through as QP access and change it back to EK. Depends on how though they want to be.

More of an issue at an alliance lounge as the lounge partner gets paid for the entry but on a QF JQ flight probably not as much

As the flight is a JQ one I doubt a lounge angel will go messing around with the JQ pnr deleting & re-entering ff numbers as ot serves no purpose .

While they may know how to check someone in (assuming they have a) a JQ sign in code & b) access to a JQ system, they may not know the system entries for the other stuff.

I'm sure showing the QP & SG cards along with the JQ boarding passes will be sufficient to gain lounge access for all four of you.

Thank you everyone for your advice, it is appreciated.

As the husband had a huge run in with a QC lounge dragon when he had an EK number on his BP and was denied access and accused of "double dipping", he is wary and we have decided to put his QF number for the trip up to Bali and his EK on the return. Better safe than sorry.

And of course unless you are in *class on your way home. No lounge access for you in DPS !! I watched huge numbers of ( various status) QP/QFF members trying for access only to be turned away. ( and not happy about it either)

But was that run in on JQ flight or QF flight? The lounge dragon is wrong in any case. QC provides access each time you travel on a Qantas or jetstar flight, there is nothing that says you have to credit that flight to Qantas. Personally I wouldn't pander to that cough, by effectively giving them a win.

The OP said it was an EK flight number, and QP members do not have access when travelling on an EK flight number in economy. So the lounge dragon was actually right!

I understood it as a JQ flight number crediting EK membership with QP PS status.

I know i did think it was an EK flight until i reread it

I took that to mean EK membership
But yes if it is an EK flight number then there will be no access even if they credit QF

When I was doing a dummy JQ booking recently the crediting to EK Skywards program was no longer an option - only QF freq flyer on the onboard voucher.

FWIW I consider "double dipping" someone trying to get points credited to two programs - not by simply using one program for lounge access whilst crediting the points to another.

Was the previous instance in PER travelling to DPS ie the only thing that involved EK was the freq flyer # not an actual EK flight?

As mentioned already, in DPS you can only access the Premier Lounge using Priority Pass or by having paid a plus bundle that includes lounge access when travelling Star Class on A330 or B787 operated flights.

Oh dear, I think I have caused confusion. Sorry!

For the record, it is a one class JQ flight PER-DPS. I am well aware that there is no lounge access in DPS therefore hubby is crediting points to EK for the return journey. If you travel JQ and elect to have EK points, EK number appears on the BP. I did not say that it was an EK flight. EK option is certainly available as I booked the flights yesterday and it allowed hubby to have QF points on first leg and EK on the way back.

As for the denied access, Qantas sent a "sorry" letter and the lounge dragon called me personally with a grovelling apology. Basically, lounge dragon got it massively wrong.

This! As per the OP questioning about putting the earning to EK. Agreed it's not entirely clear in the subsequent post as you've quoted.

I think I may have been the one confusing you. I understood you were talking about the QP in PER at intl - the DPS bit was just fyi but re-reading my post doesn't convey that.
